Eat:

Drink:
Mix up a rum tonic.  Social Wines (52 West Broadway) is loving rum tonics this weekend, featuring a local rum (Privateer from Ipswich) and fresh tonic with C&B’s Quinine syrup!  First mix together one part tonic syrup with six parts soda water. In a tall glass with ice, pour two parts aged rum and three parts tonic mix. Stir well, add a squeeze of fresh lime and enjoy!

Watch:
Oooo!  Aaaahh! For the first time this century, fireworks will return to Boston’s waterfront this month.  Get ready to be dazzled by fireworks over Boston Harbor on Saturday, August 31st as part of the grand finale of celebrating summer on the waterfront.  The fireworks will also kickoff the The Boston Arts Festival – a celebration of performing arts and interactive arts Saturday, August 31st – September 1st.??Located in Christopher Columbus Park, this weekend-long event features over 40 juried artist from Boston exhibiting and selling one-of a-kind paintings, sculpture, ceramics, pottery, jewelry, fine glasswork, woodwork, mixed media, and photography.  There will also be performing arts and an interactive arts program. ??The fireworks begin at 9pm.  Get ready to celebrate!

Paddle:

Ride:
Ride a crustacean!  Take a spin on the Rose Kennedy Greenway’s new custom-made carousel featuring New England style creatures like a lobster, barn owl, and a harbor seal.
The ride includes a light show programmed to music like the Star Wars Theme, Raffi hits and even the Drop Kick Murphy’s Shipping Up to Boston.  Well, that sounds like the coolest merry-go-round ever!  $3 a ride.Free:

Chill:
Things are getting a little cooler in Faneuil Hall.  On Friday, August 30th the long anticipated opening of Frost Ice Bar happens.  The new bar is made entirely out of ice including the bar, stools and glasses and the temperature is kept at a chilly 21 degrees.   You must reserve a ticket to get you 45 minutes inside.  The bar will feature a rotating cocktail selection that will cost you $11 a drink. 

Tickets are $19 for adults, $12 for kids 6-12 years, $17 for students, military and seniors.  Gloves and parka are provided and for $6 bucks more you can rent boots so your toes don’t get cold. 

Children are allowed in The Frost Bar during the day but don’t even think about bringing them after 5pm – they aren’t allowed.
