July 4th

It’s July Fourth weekend and if you’re lucky enough to have Friday off, the weekend starts now.  Here are some suggestions of fun things to do around town:

Eat:
Pack it up!  Local 149 is now serving boxed lunches on Thursdays and Fridays.  Featuring such favorites as fried chicken, grilled veggie wrap and the Local Cheeseburger, the boxed lunch is perfect for taking to the beach.  All boxed lunches are served with chips, fruit and cole slaw.  Prices range from $10-$14.  For more information visit www.local49.com

Drink:
Mix up a batch of Social Wine’s Sangria for the Fourth!  It’s light, delicious and a real crowd pleaser.  Visit http://socialwinesbos.com/sangria for the recipes and some special hints and tips!

Apres Beach:
After a hot day at the beach an ice cold beer will do the trick.  The Seapoint Restaurant (367 East Fourth Street) is offering a Beach Blanket Bingo Special.  Enjoy $5 pizzas along with $12 imported pitchers/ $10 domestic pitchers 4 to 7 pm every Saturday and Sunday throughout the summer.  As always, Seapoint has the friendliest staff -including Lovey, ample parking and it’s very family friendly – so bring the kids!

Watch:
Happy Birthday America!  Get in the spirit by watching the USS Constitution Turnaround with a 21 gun salute off of Castle Island! The turnaround happens at approximately 12pm.  What’s more patriotic than that? Well, maybe The Boston Pops Fireworks Spectacular!  The fun begins at 7pm on WBZ Channel 4 with an all-star lineup.  Ayla Brown, Susan Tedeschi and Keith Lockhart will take center stage along with the Boston Pops Orchestra.  10:30 the fireworks begin!  God Bless America!  Venturing in to watch the fireworks live – read this first: https://caughtinsouthie.com/feature/esplanade-4th

Free:
Enjoy some family fun on Saturday, July 6th at Marine Park.  The DCR proudly present a Free Family Flick at sunset.  This week enjoy the movie Hotel Transylvania.  Bring a blanket, some snacks and plan on coming an hour early for fun, games, and nature discovery.  For more information call 617-787-7200

Picnic:
Pack a romantic picnic for two and watch the fireworks over the city skyline.  The Bees Knees has an amped up menu featuring handmade sandwiches and ready to go meals perfect for picnicking.  In the spirit of America, Bees Knees even has a selection of “Red, White and Blue” American artisanal cheese.

Paddle:
Looking to try something new and exciting this summer?  SUP (Stand Up Paddleboard) sonas is now offers paddleboard lessons and tours from A Street on the channel.   The skilled instructors will give you a lesson and have you up and paddling in no time.  If you consider yourself an experienced paddler then take a guided on-hour tour out in the harbor.  Be on the lookout for SUP’s social outings including a one-way paddle to Castle Island then to Del Frisco’s for appetizers and drinks.   They can also customize special group packages for bachelorette or birthday parties. Sound like fun to us!   For more information visit www.SUPsonas.com or email [email protected]
