for January 18th

Eat:
Kick it old school Southie and have a family dinner.  Every Sunday, Barlow’s serves up classic comfort food like roast beef and turkey (Sunday roast choice is rotated weekly).  For $18 you get a Sunday supper like mom use to make with soup and salad.  Kids are just $9 for a half portion and ice cream for dessert.   There is plenty of parking in the A Street area on the weekends so treat yourself to a family meal – all that’s missing is the arguing!

Drink:
Belly up to the bar on Sunday night – after all it is a holiday this Monday – and listen to the music.  Every Sunday night, the Playwright  (658 East Broadway) has live acoustic country music from 8pm-11pm.  A perfect excuse for a night out.

Watch:
Do you have Pat’s fever?  We do!  Watch the game Sunday, January 20th at 6:30pm at the Seapoint Restaurant.  Order up a Seapoint Sampler fully loaded with the best potato skins, buffalo tenders, and mozzarella sticks.  They serve domestic and imported beer by the pitcher too. Plenty of free parking too!  Insider’s Tip: Get there early!  Thanks to the amount of flat screens TVs and the addition of their new 82 inch flat screen, Seapoint is the perfect spot to watch the Pats.

Local 149 is getting in on the action too offering a NFL Sunday Package menu including
Buckets of wings, nachos, mini burger baskets and $2 cans of beer.  Can’t beat that!

View:
Celebrate Martin Luther King on Monday, January 21st with a free visit to the MFA! Activities for adults and children are offered throughout the day including tours, family art-making activities, and spoken word and musical performances. This year’s celebration coincides with a big one in DC; join us to watch live streaming coverage of the 57th Presidential Inauguration from 11 am to 2 pm.  For a full list of events visit www.mfa.org

Be Well:
Rite Aid (710 East Broadway) is hosting a Health & Wellness Fair on Saturday, January 19th from 12noon to 4pm.  Stop by and get your blood pressure checked, the flu shot, and find out what your Body Mass Index is.  Samples of all-natural and organic foods will be given out too.  Sounds like the perfect time of year to get healthy!
