??Smile:  It’s Mary Poppins! Mary, Bert – the Chimney Sweep, and the gang will be singing your favorites from this beloved musical.  The Fourth The Childrens’ Musical Theater Program at Fourth Presbyterian Church (340 Dorchester Ave.) is putting on this special family fun event this weekend.  Performances are Friday, December 7at 7pm and Saturday, December 8 at 7pm.  Admission is FREE but donations will support the theater scholarship program.

Watch: Jesus is the reason for this season.  Watch the Live Nativity at M STreet Park on Saturday, December 8th.  This family friendly event will feature Baby Jesus, Mary, Joseph, the Shepherds, and live goats and sheep.  This special event is brought to you b the New Covenant Church (80 L Street) and takes place from noon to 4pm. 

Decorate: It’s time to deck the halls!  Stop by and pick out a beauty at Southie’s newest Christmas tree pop up shop.  Whether you need an 8ft or a 4ft, they’ve got a wide variety.  Need a wreath for your front door?  They’ve got those too. Learn: Have you ever wondered how to make beef jerky?  We’ll American Provisions (613 East Broadway) is gonna teach you.  On Saturday, December 8th from 7pm-8:30pm partake in a little tutorial on how to make that salty beef snack.  The class will be taught by David Koretz, CEO & Chief Operating Officer of SlantShack Jerky in collaboration with PrettyThings Brewery. This class is limited to 12 people so reserve your spot.  Price is $30 but the skills you’ll gain are priceless.

Eat: It’s comfort food weather and we can’t think of a better place to fill your belly.  Stop by Local 149 and order up the BBQ Pork Cheek Tacos or the Sweet Potato Dumplings.  They also make a mean Moscow Mule too – served in a shiny copper mug. 

Drink: Kick it old school at Lucky’s Lounge.  Drink an Old Fashioned a la Don Draper and enjoy the live music on Friday night featuring the band Classic Yellow beginning at 10pm.  As always, no cover charge.  Yes!

Eat/Shop: Eat Boutique Holiday Local Market is happening Sunday, December 9th from 1pm-5pm.  Meet local handmade food makers and cookbook authors.  Taste their delicious sweet and savory treats and shop for gifts for friends and family.  This event will take place at Artist for Humanity EpiCenter, 100 West Second Street.  Tickets are $7. 
 

Believe: Relive the magic of the Polar Express right here in South Boston.  St. Peter Academy presents their version of the classic children’s book on Sunday, December 9th from 4pm-7pm.  The Teacher’s Union Hall (180 Mount Vernon Street, Dorchester) will be transformed into the North Pole Depot at Santa’s Village.  This event will feature trolley rides, storytelling, arts and crafts projects, hot chocolate and cookies, and of course a visit from Santa!
