Go Green:Planet Southie is continuing to work on solutions on making Southie become a little greener when it comes to accessible, alternative transportation option.  On Thursday, October 25 Planet Southie’s monthly meeting will focus on better bus, walking and biking options for South Boston. The meeting will take place from 6:30 – 7:30 pm at the Distillery Building 516 E 2nd St.  All are welcome and encouraged to attend this important meeting. ??

Support: Put on a costume and help support St. Peter Academy!  You just might win a cool 5 Grand!  On Friday, October 26th at 7pm The St. Peter Academy Spooktacular Reverse Raffle takes place at the legendary Lithuanian Club on West Broadway.  Tickets are $100 to participate in the raffle for $5000. ($20 to attend the party but not participate in the raffle.) There will be appetizers, desserts, a DJ and a cash bar.  Who knows?  You just might be the lucky winner!

Wonder: A local favorite, The Children’s Magical Halloween Castle, takes place this weekend on Saturday, October 27th and Sunday, October 28th 12pm-4pm each day.  The Castle Island Association transforms Fort Independence at Castle Island into a family friendly Halloween showcase.  Enjoy magic tricks, storytelling, popcorn and treats.  Don’t forget to wear your costume.  This event is free and open to the public.

Go Local: Local 149 (149 P Street) has lots going on this weekend:

  • Friday night: Southern Tier Tap Take Over from 4-6pm
  • Sunday at 1pm: “Local Sunday Package” $2 cans of Red Dog and NFL snacks for a great price.  Grab a seat and watch the Pats!
  • Sunday night: Halloween Party at 8pm! Come in costume for discounts and prizes!

Drink: Halloween on the Harbor takes place on Friday, October 26th from 7pm-10pm.  EnjoyTrick or Treating for adults! Prizes and surprises of all shapes and sizes await you as you and your friends as you are shuttled between 11 locations on trolleys provided by Boston Duck Tours  (which is the most fun way to travel) where you will enjoy a ghoulish cocktail or a quick bite before you jump back on board and travel to the next ghostly location! It’s $5 to ride the ducks to various stops in the waterfront neighborhood. Give Blood: Back again for a second year, The Jimmy Kelly Memorial blood drive will take place Saturday, October 27th from 9am-2:30pm at South Boston Catholic Academy (O and East Broadway).  This event is hosted by the Kelly Family with help from the American Red Cross.  For more information call Sandra Walsh at 508-317-4577.

Howl: Zoo Howl – Franklin Park Zoo?Franklin Park Zoo is about to get spooky.  The haunted happenings include creature encounters, creepy crafts, ghoulish games, a trick-or-treat trail and the Haunted Maze!  Be sure to stop by the main stage to see Radio Disney.
