Go Green:
Next Planet Southie Meeting is Thursday, July 26, 6:30 p.m. at the Distillery Building, 516 E 2nd St and will feature Southie Trees.  Meet green-minded neighbors and find out how to get involved in various local green projects. All are welcome! Southie Trees will also be giving a short presentation at the meeting about upcoming events and projects.  Get informed.  Be involved.

Listen:
Sit by the harbor and enjoy some live music.  The ICA presents Harbor Sounds featuring a free outdoor music every Thursday night throughout the summer.  Enjoy this weeks performer singer-songwriter-guitarist Adrianne Lenker. Music begins at 6pm.
 
Eat:
After a few bumps in the new restaurant road, Wolfie’s has opened its doors once again.  With some new renovations, decor changes, and a super-new menu with better prices and selections, Wolfie’s promises to be a summer hot spot.

Island hop:
Hop a ferry and head to Spectacle Island for a Sunset Clambake.  Each Thursday and Friday night night through August 31st.  Jasper White’s Summer Shack is cooking up everything from chowder, to steamers to lobster.  Prices range from $55-$80.  You can pick up the ferry at Long Wharf at 6:15. 

Date:
Think outside the box when it comes to a Friday night date.  Head to the Boston Harbor Hotel at Rowes Wharf and enjoy a classic crowd-pleaser at their outdoor theater.  Each summer the harborside terrace is transformed into an outdoor cinema under the stars from June through August.

The movie begins at sunset and are free and open to the public.  We recommend getting their a little early to find a spot.    This Friday, July 27th, is the screening of one of our favorite classics, Jaws.

Cheer:
USA!  USA!  Watch the Olympics Opening Ceremony on Friday, July 27th at 7:30pm on NBC.  Award-winning director Danny Boyle – Slumdog Millionaire and Trainspotting – is said to be planning one of the most impressive opening ceremonies yet and will include over 10,000 performers featuring Paul McCartney.  So tune in and critique everyone’s uniforms – isn’t that what it’s all about?
