The Current is rolling out its opening in the Seaport

The Current – a retail pop-up incubator located on Seaport Blvd – is rolling out its opening with two new local shops in September. Injeanius opened this past Saturday and Cupcake Mojo will open on September 19th. 

Throughout October, The Current will celebrate five additional openings as shops VelocioHarvey Traveler, and Uwila Warrior arrive along with two additional brands to be announced!

The Current is located at 100 Seaport Boulevard, adjacent to Seaport Common; it will be open from September 12, 2020 – January 16, 2021; www.atthecurrent.com

Below are details on The Current for Fall/Holiday 2020; The Current will be open Thursdays to Saturdays from 12pm – 7pm, and Sundays from 12pm – 5pm.

INJEANIUS

Making jean shopping fun, easier and more approachable for women since 2005, this wildly popular Boston boutique brings its incredible array of premium jeans and tops to Seaport. Owner Alison Barnard O’Brien, an Inc. magazine “30 Under 30” and one of “Boston’s 25 Most Stylish” as named by The Boston Globe, set the local fashion industry on fire when she opened Injeanius in Boston’s North End fifteen years ago. She has since become the region’s authority for all things denim, guiding thousands of loyal customers and fans who continue to look to her and her Injeanius staff for style tips and the latest in jeans trends. O’Brien is now setting her sights on Seaport with the opening of Injeanius this month at The Current. CUPCAKE MOJO (Opening September 19)

This passionate and talented mother/daughter baker duo from Boston’s South Shore are thrilled to be bringing their delicious confectionary creations to Seaport. Christina Nalband and her mother Maureen Fitzgerald showcased their cupcake wizardry on Food Network’s Cupcake Wars in 2012 and just two years later opened their first store in Weymouth, MA. It wasn’t long before they were attracting cupcake fans from throughout the region including Wahlburgers, which now carries their cupcakes at select locations. VELOCIO (Opening October 1)

Founded in 2013, with a focus on making cycling better, Velocio offers award-winning design and socially responsible apparel for riders seeking an uncompromising riding experience. This high-end performance brand is committed to being cognizant of the social and environmental impact of its products, and in just five years has grown to the point where it is able to make a real impact. The brand’s products have been featured in various cycling media from Bicycling magazine to CyclingNews.com. HARVEY TRAVELER (Opening October 17)

The Harvey Traveler bag company was inspired by founder Dave Everett’s endless need for weekend adventures across New England. Dave named the company after his longtime “best friend” Harvey, a rescue dog he adopted in 2013. Headquartered on the shores of Boston Harbor, Harvey Traveler offers a boutique array of timeless travel products for the modern traveler. Independent Spirit, Unique Design, New England Roots & Fair Pricing are the cornerstones of the brand. At The Current, Harvey Traveler will be unveiling their new local ‘Destinations’ line of products. Harvey’s new products will be available in waxed canvas, in multiple New England colors and trimmed with cruelty-free leather. UWILA WARRIOR (Opening October 17)

Uwila Warrior, a local, female run underwear company, was founded on one simple belief: women of all sizes should not have to twist their bodies and lifestyles into underwear that only fits sometimes – they should have unapologetically colorful, beautiful, and comfortable underwear that fits every moment of their lives. The Boston based brand specializes in women’s silk and seamless underwear that is as comfortable as it is functional. Organic Bath Co. (Opening in October)
Boston-based Organic Bath Co. makes skin and body care products that are clean, safe and effective. Founded in 2014 by business and life partners Gianne Doherty and Jay Weeks, the black, female owned brand and Boston Magazine Best of Boston 2020 winner uses only organic and natural ingredients to treat and nourish the skin.  As Seaport continues to keep safety as a top priority, numerous COVID-related precautions will be implemented at The Current. To maintain a safe and controlled environment, each store will be permitted to accommodate a limited number of guests at a time. In adherence with the City of Boston’s latest COVID safety guidelines, all staff and vendors at The Current will be required to wear a mask at all times, as are all patrons, and shoppers are highly encouraged to use a credit card for all transactions.
