Match made in heaven
Fill up your propane tank, pick up some fake vomit, stink bombs, and snapping gum from the joke shop!
We’re not sure how these two partnered up, but there is something delightful about Tolman’s – a propane filling station and welding supplies shop on Dorchester Ave – and Little Jack Horner Jokes sharing the same space.
Little Jack Horner Jokes and Magic was, in fact, a family-owned mom-and-pop shop that opened in 1922 in the theater district. Sadly, it closed in the early 1990s.
Tolman Manufacturing and Supply Co. was founded in 1898 and sells welding torches propane tanks, and more – the “and more” includes jokes and prank items. According to an article in the Boston Globe, Tolman’s bought Little Jack Horner Jokes years ago, and the rest is small business marketing magic.
Tolman’s is located at 61 Dorchester Ave. and is open M-Friday 9am-4:30pm, Saturday 8-12 and closed Sundays.
Lower End homeowner since 2005. Mom of three BPS kids. Friend to all except those who don’t clean up after their dogs and/or who put their trash out in kitchen bags (seriously, people, it’s not that hard to use a barrel). Queen of the Nerds (okay that one is only in my dreams).
