Plus New Fitness Series, Stretch and the City Presented by Lifeway Kefir, Debuts with Yoga Classes at the Summer Street Steps on May 3

April 8, 2024 – Boston, MA – Boston’s largest free outdoor workout series, Seaport Sweat, is back for its ninth season, running from May 1 through September 28, 2024. This year, the community-driven program will offer over 100 free fitness classes, with weekly instructors like Michael SoaresBritney Willingham, and Nicole Derosiers. Amongst returning favorites are exciting new weekday classes like Barre and Balance with Justin Quinn, Power Sculpt with Aleigh Jerome and Release Yoga with Marlene Boyette. The weekend instructors include favorites Eliza Shirazi and Bron Volney.  Classes will also be offered by various fitness and wellness minded brands in the neighborhood, including the recently opened performance-driven apparel brand, Rhone, and smart strength-training equipment company, Tonal, as well as from returning favorites such as Equinox and lululemon.

Bringing even more fitness to the neighborhood, Seaport will debut Stretch and the City presented by Lifeway Kefir, a new weekly yoga class taking place at the Summer Street Steps, a newly opened public gathering place creating connectivity through Harbor Way made for enjoying community programming and activations. Popular local instructor Therlande Louissaint will guide participants through a 45-minute yoga class every Friday at noon throughout the season, beginning May 3 and running through September 27, 2024. Lifeway Kefir will be popping up every Friday at Stretch and the City sampling their probiotic and protein packed Lifeway Kefir. “We’re thrilled to partner with Seaport’s Stretch and the City to bring yoga to the Summer Street Steps this year. We hope everyone can come out and enjoy an energizing session, then recharge with some probiotic Lifeway Kefir to support their physical, mental and gut health. Class Description: Get LIT for HIIT
A hybrid workout consisting of high energy, good music and functional exercises to bring you a LIT experience! We will start the workout with a warmup and end with a cool down. Let’s go!

Instructor Bios
LIT2LIFT is a black owned fitness brand, Co-founded by Darren Stephens and Jonady St. Germain, whose mission is to spread the importance of fitness and healthy living. Darren Stephens (he/him) and Jonady St. Germain (he/him) were born and raised in Boston. They both graduated from Bridgewater State University in 2018. After becoming certified personal trainers through ACE, they began training at various facilities in the Greater Boston area, offering both group and individualized training. Together, they became LIT2LIFT, using their platform to motivate individuals of all ages, from all different walks of life, to become their best self in and out of the gym.

Britney Willingham

Join Britney for 45 minutes of dynamic movement. This class combines classic & contemporary sequences and breathing techniques aimed to strengthen your muscles and increase flexibility. No experience needed. Grab your mat and get ready to move!

Instructor Bio
Britney Willingham (she/her) fostered her strong connection for movement through dance at a young age, and that connection quickly grew into a passion. Not only for dance, but for movement of all kinds, thus leading to her career in teaching fitness. Britney has taught movement throughout the MetroWest area and Boston for over eight years and has had the pleasure of training in spaces like Down Under School of Yoga, Equinox, Lifetime Fitness and many more. Britney fuses her years of knowledge to deliver a powerful and thoughtful class each time she steps onto the mat. Her classes focus on celebrating your body’s strengths through mindful and intentional movement. Britney also understands how being new to a movement practice can be intimidating, so she loves meeting new faces and aims to empower confidence in each one of her students. The ability to work with each student at any level on their fitness journey is a big part of what keeps her coming back to the mic. Through teaching and practice of her own, Britney has found joy in movement that aims to nurture and strengthen the body, both mentally and physically. She loves being able to hold space for you, to find that joy too. She hopes that you leave her class with a newfound confidence about what your body is capable of doing. Let’s get sweaty together and most importantly, stronger together!

Ashley Mitchell

Total Body Triumph is an exhilarating, bootcamp-style class combining strength, cardio, and mobility. Whether you’re a beginner or seasoned athlete, this bodyweight class is a supportive environment where everybody can thrive!

Ashley Mitchell (she/her) is a multi-passionate creator, wife, and toddler mom. She has become a powerful voice speaking out against racial inequality in wellness spaces, garnering a robust and diverse community of supporters, allies, and chosen family. Ashley currently works in several capacities, including teaching strength and yoga classes around the greater Boston area, consults in diversity, equity, and inclusion, and most proudly, runs The Courage Campaign, a non- profit co-founded with her husband Mark.

Marlene Boyette
Tuesdays at 6:30pm

Class Description: Release Yoga
This accessible yoga series, led by trauma-informed yoga instructor and sound meditation facilitator, Marlene Boyette, focuses on empowerment through choice and presence. Release Yoga welcomes participants to engage with and listen to their breath, their body, and their mind, developing a rhythm that honors their individual needs for both movement and stillness. Each class acts as an invitation for students to explore the way that they approach their yoga practice, creating space to release what doesn’t serve, support or sustain them.

Instructor Bio
Marlene Boyette (she/her) is a Boston-based trauma-informed therapeutic yoga and sound meditation practitioner, educator and community activist, teaching since 2013. She aims to use movement, stillness, and sound to encourage restoration, joy, and healing within communities of all backgrounds, ages and abilities. Marlene is a faculty member at The Advent School, where she has taught Yoga and Mindfulness full time for 7 years. She also teaches weekly classes and workshops at JP Centre Yoga in Jamaica Plain.

Through her business, Leela Yoga + Wellness, Marlene has developed partnerships with various organizations and institutions within and outside of Boston such as Paramount / Nickelodeon, Spotify, The City of Boston, MIT, Harvard University and The Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum.

As a practitioner, Marlene believes that wellness modalities can be used as tools to activate social change and collective healing. Some of her efforts include creating and facilitating the BIPOC yoga series, “Yoga For Us”, which launched in 2019.

Marlene has been recognized locally and nationally by The Boston Globe, Getaway House, and Lululemon for her contributions and dedication to community, equity, social justice, and wellness, and was recently a featured guest on GBH’s longest running public television show, Basic Black. Aleigh Jerome

Class Description: Power Sculpt
Power Sculpt is a dynamic mat-based workout that sculpts and strengthens the body. Expect a blend of contemporary pilates and functional strength-based exercises, combined with cardio power movements for a total body burn.

Instructor Bio
Aleigh Jerome (she/her) is a Pilates, Strength, and HIIT instructor at Equinox Boston. Originally from Cape Cod, Aleigh‘s passion for fitness began as a young gymnast. After moving to Boston over 10 years ago, she reconnected with her inner athlete through group fitness. Aleigh combines her experience as a gymnast and pilates instructor with her love of strength training to deliver a challenging, motivating workout.

Athletic Conditioning is an interval training class that creatively mixes bodyweight exercises with safe plyometrics. A combination of strength training and cardio, this class is designed to make you find new boundaries that challenge your muscular endurance and strength.

Meet Michael Soares (he/him), an elite personal trainer and founder of New Human, an online fitness app that has helped over 25,000 people around the world become healthier both physically and mentally. Michael Soares firmly believes that by taking care of one’s body and mind, people can lead happier and better lives, which is why he offers his expertise through various channels, including 1-on-1 online coaching, the New Human Fitness App, in-person events, and merchandise line.  He believes everyone can find their inner athlete through fitness!

Nicole Derosiers

Class Description: Zumba
Get lost in the hypnotic sounds of Latin and international rhythms from all over the world with Zumba fitness. Zumba takes the “work” out of workout, by mixing low-intensity and high-intensity moves for an interval-style, calorie-burning dance fitness party. Everybody and every body can come together and get their sweat on with this energy boosting class. Comfortable cross training sneakers are strongly recommended. No fitness or dance background necessary. Just bring your authentic self!

Instructor Bio
Nicole Derosiers (she/her) has been dancing since she could walk (probably even before that too). She caught the fitness bug 12 years ago after taking a Zumba Fitness® class and got licensed to teach shortly thereafter! Her dedication to bringing Zumba Fitness® classes to a diverse clientele across New England inspired her to build her resume with barre, HIIT, cycle, personal training, and more! If she’s not working out or teaching, she’s online shopping, catching up on Bravo, brunching with her besties, and spending time with her husband and cat, Jada Pinkett. In any class with Nicole, you must follow her two important rules: Sweat and Smile!

Justin Quinn

Class Description: Barre & Balance
Balance & Barre is a high intensity, low impact fusion class that combines bodyweight barre, yoga and functional strength movements. You can expect to sweat, shake and push past your edge in a challenging yet accessible workout. All levels are welcome, and class can be scaled to find that perfect balance of challenge and connection.

Instructor Bio
Always on a mission to create balance in his life, Justin Quinn (he/him) found yoga in high school and fell in love with the practice. What started as a compliment to running soon became an integral part of his everyday life. He completed his 200hr. yoga teacher certification in 2016, and soon became certified to teach Yoga Sculpt, Barre and Spin. He believes movement is for everybody, and he is dedicated to making students feel like the best version of themselves. His classes are driven by connecting music to movement and creating an atmosphere of expression and inspiration in a challenging, meaningful way. You can expect big beats, big smiles and a deeper connection to yourself. He is excited to see you on your mat!

Class Description: Broncore Bootcamp
BronCore Bootcamp is the perfect mix of high intensity cardio, core and strength. Expect nothing but a high-intensity GO, GO, GO workout. Every muscle in your body will be worked with plyometric rounds, strength circuits and as much core as possible while trying to keep your clothes somewhat clean. It only takes one of these high-energy classes to get hooked, and it is no surprise that BronCore Fitness stays true to their slogan “ZERO BOREDOM, ALL SWEAT.”

Bron Volney (he/him) brings over a decade of experience and a lifelong passion for health and wellness to fitness. As the founder of his downtown Boston based personal training and bootcamp company, BronCore Fitness, Bron creates epic bootcamp workouts that take place indoors and outdoors all over the city of Boston. What began as small bootcamps on the beach in Provincetown grew and, in the spring of 2021, BronCore Fitness opened its first full-service personal and group-training studio in Downtown Boston. High energy and happy vibes are the name of his game. He believes that if your workouts and nutrition are on point, everything else in your week falls into place. Bron’s favorite things to do when he’s not at the gym or in a fitness class are partying with friends, watching scary movies, and eating some good ol’ southern style BBQ.

This sASSy sculpt class builds muscle, strength and endurance and will have you moving and grooving to the beat. The sASSy strength exercises target all major muscle groups so you can tone from head-to-toe, honay!

Alanna Perry (she/her) is a former NFL Cheerleader turned fitness entrepreneur who is changing the way people look and feel about fitness! Alanna is the owner of Barre Groove, a boutique fitness studio that offers fun, innovative and effective fitness classes that you can’t find anywhere else! Alanna has an extensive background in dance; she grew up as a competitive dancer, studied modern and contemporary ballet in college, danced on the sidelines for the New England Patriots and has been an active coach / instructor in the Boston fitness community for more than 10 years. Alanna thrives on bringing the sASS to every class and is known to keep you smiling while sweating!

Alanna and Barre Groove have been featured in The Boston Globe, Boston Magazine, Boston Common Magazine and Boston Business Journal, along with television appearances on The Hub Today NBC Boston. Barre Groove also was awarded Best of Boston: 2019 Best Barre Studio by Boston Magazine.

Class Description: Peaches Guaranteed
A 45-minute circuit style class where participants will work in groups, moving to 6-10 stations. This workout will be fast paced and NONSTOP with focus on lower body and core. Participants will also be challenged cardio vascularly. Rob not only guarantees a great workout but a fun and interactive way to meet new people!

Originally from Pueblo, CO, Rob (he/him) has been a Boston resident for the past 20 years. After playing football at Endicott College, he went on to coach at BB&N, BC High, Tufts University, and Bentley University. His professional fitness career started at EverybodyFights in Boston and he has been working as a personal trainer since 2019. Rob is the Co-Founder of BackYahd Boston in the South Bay Shopping Center and Owner of The Grit Academy Personal Training on Newbury Street.

Kick It is a music-driven, kickboxing-inspired fitness method with 13 rounds that have specific goals. Eliza Shirazi’s (she/her) passion for group fitness began in college when she noticed the lack of community-centered fitness options for women. That changed when she founded Kick It, a program centered around creating authentic connections through approachable movement.
