Sofia Encamacao

Local resident and ballet dancer, Sofia Encamacao, is performing in the Boston Ballet’s The Nutcracker this season.  Playing the role of Page, Sofia is excited to be joining the Boston Ballet’s cast.  Sofia has been a student at the Boston Ballet School for two years and is a sixth grader at the Dever-McCormack School.  She has been in various productions of The Nutcracker for the past five years. She also recently played the role of Little Timoune in BC High’s production of Once On This Island, performing at Symphony Hall.

Artistic Director Mikko Nissinen and Robert Perdziola chose to set the new production in the early 1800s, in what many know as the Jane Austen era. Over 350 costumes were created, each handmade and custom painted to match Perdziola’s exquisite designs. The innovative sets contain extensive amounts of moving scenery, making the entire production a truly magical experience.

All performances of The Nutcracker will take place at The Boston Opera House, running November 29-December 29, 2012.

For tickets to the holiday classic The Boston Ballet’s The Nutcracker, you can purchase them online at www.bostonballet.org, or by phone at 617.695.6955 or in person at the box office at 19 Clarendon Street, Boston, Monday-Friday 9:30am-5pm and on performance days on Saturday and Sunday, 11am – 4pm.

Congratulations Sofia!  You’ve done Southie proud!  As they say in show business, “Break a leg!”
