South Boston Gallery Crawl!

Written by Kathleen Bitetti

Happy New Year to all!  This is the one year anniversary of this monthly column and I propose as celebration- a January Saturday night Southie Gallery Crawl!

There of the Contemporary Galleries in 02127 zip code are having receptions on Saturday night, January 21st. They are all free and open to the public. This is a great opportunity to do a Gallery Crawl! All three of the galleries are very close in walking distance of each other.

Here are the details:

Proof Gallery is hosting its eagerly awaited fifth annual show- Boston Does Boston V.   As in the past, the gallery asks Boston affiliated artists to each choose another local artist to exhibit with. The result is an exciting cross section of the Boston arts community. Spanning a range of media, the participants in Boston Does Boston represents the vanguard of contemporary approaches and concerns.  http://www.proof-gallery.com/

Second Floor, The Distillery Building, 516 East Second Street  Reception time is 6 to 8pm

LaMontange Gallery is opening a dynamic group painting show on the 21st featuring the work of Kris Mortensen, Sean Downey, Corey Corcoran, and Paul Endres. http://www.lamontagnegallery.com

555 East Second Street.  Reception time is 6 to 8pm

Medicine Wheel Productions is presenting -a solo exhibition, Points of Impact, by Linda Burke. MWP’s Spoke Gallery has been transformed to house Burke’s new series of works on delicate and almost translucent paper. Under Burke’s direction, the floor has been painted a target red and the walls and ceiling are now a dark eggplant color. The end result, in combination with her works on paper, is a beautiful contemplative almost haunting environment. More info:  http://mwponline.org/wordpress/?page_id=682
