Design Museum Boston presents: Street Seats Re-imagining the Public Bench
“Design Museum Boston’s Street Seats is a unique opportunity to think differently about public seating. Design brings communities together, and public seating sets the stage for chance encounters, people watching, connecting with nature, or simply taking a break. This outdoor exhibition is the culmination of a design competition which gave creative people from around the world a chance to rethink the humble public bench. Over 170 teams participated and 23 countries were represented. Designers were challenged to create environmentally-friendly outdoor sidewalk furniture for Fort Point Channel with a focus on reuse, renewable materials, and innovative construction methods. The outdoor exhibition features the Semi-Finalists from the Street Seats Design Challenge – 19 unique public benches that help us see the city in a whole new light.”
Guided tours are every 1st and 3rd Saturday of the month at 1pm and 7pm.
