South Boston CAN Reduce Underage Drinking and South Boston Action for Substance Abuse Prevention will host a schedule of annual family-friendly events held St. Patrick’s Day Weekend to celebrate with pride, respect, and dignity.  St. Patrick’s Day is not only a celebration but also a source of childhood memories.  Create vivid, joyous, and proud childhood memories by participating in our family-friendly events: Kids’ Meet and Greet with children’s favorite TV and book characters on Saturday, March 16 and three Family-Friendly Zones along the parade route to watch the St. Patrick’s Day Parade on Sunday, March 17.  These events are free.

The Kids’ Meet and Greet with Dora the Explorer, Elmo, and Big Bird will take place Saturday, March 16 from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Julie’s Family Learning Program located at 133 Dorchester St., South Boston.  Please use the West 4th Street entrance and remember to bring your camera so that you can take photographs with the characters!

The three Family-Friendly Zones will be open for families to gather and watch the parade together.  Each zone will face painting, snacks, and refreshments.  This event is free but registration is required.  Registration begins at 12:30 p.m. Sunday, March 17 at each of the zones: (1) The Laboure Center located at 275 West Broadway, South Boston; (2) The South Boston Action Center located at 424 West Broadway, South Boston; (3) The Old Colony Task Force located at the corner of Reverend Burke and Dorchester Streets, South Boston.
