It’s almost Valentines Day and love is in the air!  Well, for some of you out there it is, and if it is, I don’t begrudge you getting your V-day on.  Now gals, if you’re single like me and eating heart shaped marshmallows and couples chocolate fondue is not on your agenda, that doesn’t mean you have to sit home in your housecoat and watch Brigid Jones’ Diary.  Valentines Day is a Friday this year, so why not brush the potato chip crumbs out of your hair and paint the town red?  Of course there are the usual Southie haunts, but why not try something a little different?  Why not head all the way out to The Seaport District?  Don’t be scared to leave Broadway ladies (no offense to all the fine establishments on Broadway) but you never know who you’ll meet if you switch up your routine.  Let me breakdown a few of the many fun places just a hop, skip, and a jump away:

Laugh Boston.  Who doesn’t like a guy with a sense of humor?  I think a sense of humor is the most important quality a guy can possess, well second to finding me attractive of course.  This weekend SNL’s new Weekend Update anchor Colin Jost is performing, maybe that ridiculously loud laugh of yours will finally pay off & you’ll grab lots of attention.

Atlantic Beer Garden.  Baby steps guys, baby steps.  Leaving Southie proper is hard, I get it, so maybe get your feet wet at the Beer Garden 2.0?  The guys here won’t be any different than the guys at the Broadway Beer Garden, but you have to start somewhere.

District Hall/Gather.  Allow me to gush for a moment, District Hall is the bomb.  If you haven’t checked it out yet put it on your to do list immediately.  It’s kind of hard to explain, but District Hall is a civic space that houses open work spaces, classrooms, assembly space, user pods, and writable services.  It also has a coffee shop Brew, and a restaurant Gather.  I recommend not waiting till Friday to check it out, they’re having their first Welcome Wednesday this week, it’s a meet and greet for Southie residences and businesses.  Check out the space, meet an interesting, smart dude or three, and enjoy some complimentary appetizers (my favorite kind).

Empire.  Maybe you want to shimmy into your favorite cocktail dress (and least favorite SPANX) and head someplace to see and be seen?  If being seen is your scene (see what I did there?) Empire is calling your name.  Added bonus, the food and cocktails are actually really good, so you can use that as the reason you’re going even though you and I both know it’s to try to grab a pro athlete.

Strega.  You might be totally over Valentines Day and trying to meet guys in general (join the club homegirl).  If that’s the case just head to Strega  in some stretch pants and eat your feelings.  May I suggest the Torta All’ Aragosta?  And since I’ll probably see you there we can toast to how wonderful we are, or cry into our martinis, whatevs.
