The Conservancy invites you to experience an exciting season of food, music, festivals, markets, play, and fitness events on The Greenway

 May 3, 2023 – BOSTON, MA – Today the Rose Kennedy Greenway Conservancy announced the 2023 programmatic lineup on The Greenway, a season brimming with possibilities including new food trucks, fitness partners, events, and more. Old friends and new visitors to The Greenway will experience a free and open public park, where over 350 events will create opportunities to gather, play, unwind, and explore around every corner. This season will include the Momentum Greenway Dance Program presented by Amazon, 100+ free fitness classes, festivals, markets, food and drink vendors, and so much more.

Greenway Food Vending Program

Discover flavors from around the world seven days a week with 18 food vendors of the Greenway Food Vending Program this year. The new season of vending began on April 3 and offers a variety of affordable, unique cuisines across seven different locations along the park. We are excited to announce six new vendors for 2023 including Kush by Saba, Nothing Bundt Cakes, Paisani, Tacos Calleteco, Vaz and Mac, and Wanderlust Globally Inspired Food.

Trillium Garden on The Greenway

Opened for a seventh season on April 14, Trillium Garden on The Greenway is operating at the corner of High Street and Atlantic Avenue across from Rowes Wharf. Trillium’s drink offerings will be paired with food from the Greenway Food Vending Program including Wanderlust on Wednesdays, Dining Car on Thursdays, Revelry on Fridays, and Vaz & Mac on Saturdays throughout the season. Current hours are Wednesday-Thursday 3p to 8p, Friday-Saturday 12p to 8p, and Sunday 12p to 6p and will expand after May 10. Greenway Fitness Program

Going into its 8th season, the Greenway Fitness Program presented by Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts, will offer over 100 free fitness classes running from June through September. From HIIT to yoga, to parkour and meditation, the series provides the public with essential opportunities to nurture their mental and physical health and social well-being. A full schedule of the 100+ free classes will be released in late May.

Momentum Greenway Dance Program

The Momentum Greenway Dance Program presented by Amazon is a site-responsive dance series in partnership with Boston-based choreographer/director Peter DiMuro and four local dance companies – Continuum Dance Project, Jean Appolon Expressions, Public Displays of Motion, and Vimoksha. Each choreographer has selected a portion of The Greenway on which to base their work and will respond to the context of the site, whether historical, social, anthropological, or environmental. Free dance performances by each company will last around 30 minutes and take place on September 9, 16, 23, and 30, culminating in a final festival day of performance on October 7.

Festivals on The Greenway

A series of major festivals will take place on The Greenway in 2023, all free and open to the public.

  • The Greenway Food Truck Festivalwill coincide with opening day of the Greenway Artisan Market from 11a-3p on Saturday, May 6 and will feature 10+ food vendors serving up everything from cookies to kimchi fried rice.
  • BAGLY is bringing Massachusetts Youth Prideback to The Greenway on Saturday, May 20 featuring a resource fair, performances, and activities to support LGBTQ+ youth.
  • New England Legal Foundation will debut the inaugural Beantown Beanfeston June 24, showcasing vendors from across the region featuring different ethnic cuisines and bean-based products.
  • AfroDesiaCity will be hosting the first Black Music Month Celebration Concerton June 30, featuring local BIPOC performers, food, and beer and wine options.
  • Chinatown Main Street will return with the Chinatown Main Street Festival on July 1  and the Lantern Festival on September 9 with vendors,  lion dances, and cultural performances.
  • The Caribbean One World Expowill be returning July 8, featuring local artisan vendors, musical performances, food and much more.
  • The Chinese Consolidated Benevolent Association of New England will bring back the August Moon Festival on August 13.
  • KickBack Bostonin collaboration with City Awake will be returning on September 16, featuring live music and DJs, food, drinks, and lawn games.
  • Sustainable Business Network’s Boston Local Food Festivalwill take place on September 17 and feature fresh produce and local artisan foods.

Partner Programs

The Conservancy is thrilled to welcome back some of our favorite season-long partners, bringing enriching experiences to our world-class park:

  • The Greenway Artisan Marketwill return on Saturdays May 6 through October 28 and Sundays May 28 through October 8 from 11a-5p. Discover unique handmade products, jewelry, crafted goods, and art along The Greenway.
  • Youth play programming on The Greenway includes weekly sessions in Chinatown on Thursday evenings from June through September and a SaturPLAY series in partnership with the Asian Community Development Corporation’s A-VOYCEprogram on a Saturday each month from May to October.
  • Boston Public Market at Dewey Square on The Greenwaywill provide fresh and local wares every Tuesday from June until Thanksgiving.
  • Lion Dances at the Chinatown Gatewill be returning Saturday afternoons from June 10 to September 2.
  • Coolidge on The Greenwaywill return for the fifth year with movie screenings on The Greenway on June 21, July 12, and August 16 from 7:45p-11p.
  • The North End Music & Performing Arts Center will bring Jazz in the Park Summer Concert Seriesto The Greenway weekly on Thursdays from July 13 to August 8 from 6:30p-8p.
  • For the 14th year, the Asian Community Development Corporation will bring Chinese language kung fu films and movies about the Asian/American experiences to the park for Films at the Gateon August 23-25.

The Conservancy’s events calendar compliments all The Greenway has to discover, from the contemporary public art, the seven unique water features, to the Greenway Carousel. Our programming showcases and supports the ingenuity and breadth of Boston’s community with the approach of hosting partner events, allowing the team to work with a wide range of community groups and small businesses to bring hundreds of relevant and authentic events to the public.
