You’ve seen the back to school commercials.  July is quickly coming to an end.  You know what that means, summer in Southie is on its way out!  We want to make sure you savor every moment and cross off items on your summer bucket list.  Here are some fun things we’re hoping to do in the month of August!

Finally drink frose on the Coppersmith roof deck – and of course I have to get the tater tots too!  I would also like to take a ferry to one of the Boston Harbor Islands and explore.

Try a breakfast sandwich at Sully’s.  Sneak into the VIP tent at the Blue Hills Pavillion during the Diana Ross concert. Take a weekend trip to Ptown.

Play handball down the L and eat nachos on the secret patio at Shenanigans

I definitely am trying to make a trip to the beachcomber in Wellfleet happen! I crossed trying frosé off my bucket list this weekend in Nashville. :) And another bucket list item is finishing the falmouth road race without dying… I also need to go to sully’s at least once (haven’t been there yet!) and get to Lincoln Test Kitchen/ Loco Lunch on a summer Friday!

Be able to yell BINGO on my BPL Bingo card (so far I’ve read 8 novels from the library since June 1st).  Watch all my kids run the 4th Annual Martin Richard Memorial Mile on August 17th at Saunders Stadium

See Shakespeare on the Common (and potentially pack a picnic for it – but that’s ambitious for me). Take a weekend road trip that isn’t for a social obligation (I’m currently en route to wedding number three of five this summer), and instead just for spur-of-the-moment fun.

Read as much as I can.  Take a trip abroad. Purchase sun lamp for impending mood drop when daylight savings ends.

Here are some other ideas for you to try!

Indulge in Gelato at the new stand at Capo!  Finally, a new spot in town to enjoy a frozen treat. Enjoy gelato and sorbet at Capo’s new stand! Stop by Thursday-Sunday from 12pm-7pm weather permitting!

Pack a picnic!  We know we can picnic in fall too but we want to take advantage of a late sunset with a summer’s night picnic.  Our preferred spots for a picnic? Fort-side at Castle Island or up high at Thomas Park.  Stop by American Provisions for some sandwiches or charcuterie and gourmet cheeses.  Social Wines will help you pair a nice wine to make your picnic a little more romantic.

Thrill seek!  Take a ride on Codzilla!  If whipping around Boston Harbor at full speed is your idea of a fun way to spend an afternoon, Codzilla is the perfect adventure for you.  In this high-speed ride, the music blares, the waves crash, and this forty minute ride featuring 2800 horsepower is not for the faint of heart.  We are dying to try it!   For more information visit here!

Watch! Take advantage of the free movies at the Boston Harbor Hotel.  This month they are featuring classic movies!  Each summer the Harborside Terrace is transformed into an outdoor cinema under the stars from June through August. The movie begins at sunset and are free and open to the public.  We recommend getting their a little early to find a spot.
