Southie Shoutout: SBNH’s Kathy Lafferty
South Boston native Kathy Lafferty was honored on June 21 as a member of the Massachusetts Commission on the Status of Women’s 2017 class of Unsung Heroines. State Rep. Nick Collins, D-South Boston, nominated Kathy for this recognition in honor of her decades of work supporting the families and neighborhood of South Boston.
Kathy was honored with other Unsung Heroines from across the state for her outstanding contributions in a ceremony held at the Statehouse in Boston.
“The Unsung Heroines are women who don’t always make the news, but truly make the difference. They are the women who use their time, talent and enthusiasm to enrich the lives of others and make a difference in their neighborhoods, cities and towns. They are mentors, volunteers and innovators who do what needs to be done without expectations of recognition or gratitude. These women are the glue that keeps a community together and every community has them.” Commission on the Status of Women
