3 Southie residents running for Mass Fallen Heroes

South Boston residents Eamonn Burke, James Colvin and John Toomey are three of 100 runners running in the Marine Corps Marathon 40th anniversary on behalf of Massachusetts Fallen Heroes on Sunday, October 25th in Arlington, VA.  Way to go guys!

“It is truly an honor for our organization to be recognized as one of the few official charity partners of the Marine Corps Marathon, and give our friends and supporters the rare opportunity to run these races on our behalf to help remember our fallen and honor their sacrifice,” said Dan Magoon, Executive Director of Massachusetts Fallen Heroes. “Being aligned with a nationally recognized program also shows the rest of the country what we’re doing, and might be the launching pad needed to elevate Mass Fallen Heroes to a nationwide platform.”

Massachusetts Fallen Heroes’ mission is to inaugurate a permanent memorial dedicated to the men and women of Massachusetts who have lost their lives while fighting the Global War on Terrorism since 2001, provide a multitude of advocacy services to Veterans and families of the fallen, and to partner with like-minded organizations who have needs of Veterans and Gold Star families in their best interests.

Registration is open now and race slots are available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Minimum fundraising efforts for the Marine Corps Historic Half Marathon is $350, and minimum fundraising efforts for the Marine Corps Marathon is $600.
