Looking around the neighborhood these days, it looks like we could use some goats in South Boston.  Yes, that’s right, goats.  We know you’ve noticed the large bushes growing out from lots and pushing out onto the streets.  Tufts of grass and greens poking out of  cracks in the sidewalks – some of them a foot high.  There are even patches of mini lawns bursting out of cement in some areas.

A few years back, Mayor Walsh and the City of Boston deployed some goats to tackle the poison ivy in Hyde Park.  The goats were hired to take care of two acres of Park and Recreation property over run with weeds including poison ivy.  Four goats just doing their thing – eatin’ stuff for eight weeks.

Dorchester got some goats this week!  Dorchester Park Association  has hired the Goatscaping Co. in Plymouth to clean up Dot Park!  Goats cost about $100 per goat per week!

Why go to New York when Boston has goats?

It’s also very “green” to use goats – better than environmentally harmful and toxic weed killers.  Goats are also cheap.  Way less expensive than a bunch of DPW workers with weed-wackers working OT to take care of business.  So really, it’s silly that we don’t’ already have goats.

So Mr. Mayor, if you are reading this, we’d like some neighborhood goats.  Thank you.
