Southie Business Spotlight: Lilah’s Tarot Card Parlor

What started out as frequent episodes of déjà vu at the age of 12 turned into joining the family business of energy healing by the age of 18. Fast forward 20 years, and Lilah Evans is the owner of Lilah’s Tarot Card Parlor on West Broadway.

After briefly living in Southie years ago in 2002, Evans always had a feeling that she would come back. Once the building of her former store location was sold, she stumbled upon the Broadway location for sale despite it not even being posted online. To her, it was totally meant to be.

Taking after her grandmother and mother, Evans started out by reading tarot cards but eventually got into energy healing and recently started using crystals. Her shop offers various services such as card reading, chakra healing, reiki and more. Whether you are seeking guidance in your life, are trying to overcome trauma or are in search of a relaxing outlet, walking into this shop might be exactly what you need.

Evans’s personal favorite is doing reiki healing for those who carry a lot on their shoulders or are trying to move forward.  “I love working with people like that because, after the treatment, I can see the change, the shift, the relief in them,” Evans said.

(If you’re reading this and are wondering, what is reiki?…It’s just a form of energy healing similar to something like yoga or meditation, but with the physical touch of the healer’s hands.)

But, with these alternative ways of healing and therapy come those who don’t believe. When it comes to dealing with skeptics, Evans encourages them to be open-minded and to try it out.

“You have to [want to] connect with something,” Evans said. “If you don’t want to do something, you’re not going to get the full effect.”

Evans has been able to change a lot of people’s minds who are seemingly shocked after she tells them something that only they would ever know while reading their tarot cards or reading them in general, like a medium does.

And if you are worried about being told you are going to die in three days if you get your cards read…they don’t work like that. They serve as a resource to help prepare and guide you.

Still not convinced? Pop into the shop and try it out. Whether it is with crystals or having your cards read, you have to be open to it and let the energy do its thing. And at the end, if you still don’t feel connected, there are no hard feelings.

At the very least, visit Evans and pick up a new crystal to carry around with you.

(Quick Crystal 101: Get black obsidian or clear quartz if you are looking for protection. Get rose quartz if you are looking to further relationships and friendships.)

Lilah’s Tarot Card Parlor is open Monday-Saturday, 10:30 AM to 7:00 PM and Sunday from 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM, by appointment only. Call 617-451-7294 to make an appointment. Walk-ins are welcome Monday-Saturday.

To each their own: I find the ROSARY very comforting and healing. I guess that is the Southie Catholic in me.
