Editor’s note: In an effort to promote small businesses, our SLIP Interns will be presenting features on small businesses in the neighborhood.
Today, I took a trip to Dorchester to Adams Corner to visit Heather at Top Shelf Cookies. The first thing I noticed was how good it smelled! Top Shelf offers a wide variety of cookies, including staples like Hazel’s Chocolate Chip, TB Toffee Treasures, and the cookie that started it all, The Black and Gold!
The Black and Gold cookie was inspired by the 2011 Boston Bruins, who won the Stanley Cup. It’s made with dark chocolate with peanut butter chips!
They also have sugar cookies, Green Monster mint for the Red Sox, and Toasted Marshmallow, and on Thursdays, they do a test kitchen cookie special.
Top Shelf has also partnered with another small business in Dorchester, the Ice Creamsmith, for a monthly ice cream sandwich collaboration. This month’s flavor is the Peach-Wich, which is made with peach ice cream sandwiched between two sugar cookies. I got to try it. It was delicious and tasted like summer!
I also found out that you can order cookies via Doordash and have them delivered right to your door. Top Shelf also ships nation wide too!
You should try Top Shelf Cookies. Their cookies are really delicious, and they’re a small, woman-owned business in the Dorchester neighborhood.
