Rising Star

18-year-old Shea Flaherty from Dorchester (with Southie ties) has only been rapping for about a year.  But recently he decided to make it next level with his new EP – “Toohig State of Mind” – which dropped today.

“This project for me signified the transition from making music in my closet to a real studio; making the jump from messing around making music to trying to do something with it,” said Shea.

Shea writes all his music. His producer – Cream – does his magic with the beats and Shea comes up with the lyrics.  His music is clever with its use of wordplay. There are a lot of tiny idiosyncrasies that are subtle but worth while.”

As for the title of his debut EP – “Toohig State of Mind” – Shea pays homage to Toohig Park in Dorchester and his formative years hanging out there.  “Nothing molded me more than my nights down Toohig, so I felt it was appropriate.”

This bright, ambitious, and charming Boston Latin School graduate is going places. In addition to his hopes to enter Local 103 IBEW as an electricians apprentice, Shea will continue to pursue his music career – which he should – because the boy’s got talent!

You can download “Toohig State of Mind” via all streaming platforms – Spotify, Apple, Tidal, YouTube etc. You can also use this link to download directly!
