Illustrator David Diaz visit!
Recently the First Grade students at South Boston Catholic Academy had an opportunity to go to the South Boston Branch Library and meet David Diaz – an illustrator of children’s books and a winner of the Caldecott Medal for his illustrations in the book Smoky Night by Eve Bunting.
The children got to see several samples of his illustrations. Then he had the children follow along with him to make their own pictures. The children did quite well, illustrating just like David Diaz! The children had a lot of questions for him, too.
Each child took home a signed copy of a book that contained his illustrations! Thank you to Mrs. Laura Miller, the Children’s Librarian at the South Boston Branch Library and to Mr. David Diaz for making it possible for our students to take part in the wonderful interactive workshop and having them create their own works of art.
