Forget Obama and Romeny!  South Boston Catholic Academy’s K1 classes held their own version of Election Day – for their favorite flavor of ice cream!  Children in both K1 classes came together to nominate three flavors; vanilla, chocolate and strawberry.

On Election Day, children came to the “polls” to do their civic duty.  (We hear the line was around the block.)  After casting a ballot in the voting booth, they each received an official “I Voted” sticker.

When all the popular votes were counted, the winner was chocolate.  To celebrate, the children enjoyed a scoop of the winning ice-cream.  Even those voters who cast their vote for another flavor on election day could not resist a scoop of chocolate ice-cream.

Now that’s what we call hands on learning!
