The Handle Bar

Hey Southie!  Get ready to pedal your way to lean and mean – think 600 calories in 45 minutes .  The Handle Bar, Southie’s first ever indoor cycling studio has opened its doors.  Located in the Macallen Building, The Handle Bar houses 30 bikes, a reception area, cubbies for riders, and two restrooms.    This high energy, fat-burning workout is a great addition to your fitness routine and is the perfect cure for workout boredom – it’s a party on a bike with a top of the line sound system, mood lighting and motivating instructors.

Classes are offered pre and post work hours with an occasional lunchtime class sprinkled in for good measure during the week.  On the weekends, classes take place throughout the day.

Another reason to love The Handle Bar:
Pedal in Pink! The Handle Bar (141 Dorchester Avenue) is turning pink and honoring National Breast Cancer Awareness Month with four “Pedal in Pink” indoor cycling classes this October. Come spin on Wednesday, October 23rd at 7pm – 50% of proceed will benefit the Ellie Fund, a Massachusetts-based non-profit organization that fights breast cancer by easing its effects on patients and families through providing critical support services including childcare, groceries, transportation to treatment and housekeeping. Riders, who are encouraged to wear their favorite pink workout gear to the “Pedal in Pink” classes, will enter a dim, pink lit studio and break a sweat to a soundtrack of top tracks. Following the 60-minute class, riders will be treated to samples of pink Vitamin Water to replenish and refresh them from the high-intensity workout.  Tickets are $20  Reservations are recommended and can be made on www.handlebarcycling.com  Get a great workout and help support a great cause!
