Oh man! Southie is not Southie enough any more.
Anyone that grew up in Southie know how much it’s changed in the last few years. But you can still find some old school nooks and crannies of the Southie of yesteryear, right? Well, evidently not. According to Universal Hub, the Showtime series SMILF – about a single mom from Southie – will be filming in Dorchester soon. Evidently they are looking for “authentic neighborhoods” and Dorchester has got what Southie is lacking.
Filming will take place on Monday, October 30th in the Polish Triangle area of Dorchester– really just a stone’s throw away from Andrew Square in Southie but Dot none the less.
Back in August, the series starring Frankie Shaw, Rosie O’Donnell and Connie Britton shot a few scenes near the firehouse at K Street in Southie. They will be back again on October 31st to shoot more scenes.
You can get a sneak peak of SMILF here! The series will premier on Sunday, November 5th at 10pm.
