Mary Tyler Moore – you will be missed.
When I was a little girl growing up in the 70’s and 80’s, I would watch the Mary Tyler Moore show. The opening credits of the show was captivating enough – a pretty woman walking confidently down the busy city streets of Minneapolis, fashionable dressed, ending with the iconic spin and throwing of her hat in the air. I was hooked. Mary was an inspiration.
Mary Richards was spunky. She was a single woman in her 30’s, living her dream and rising through the ranks to become a news producer. Mary Tyler Moore also played another TV favorite of mine – the lovable Laura Petri on the Dick Van Dyke Show – one the first women on television to wear pants on TV – and hot looking cigarette pants to boot. Moore one two Emmys for her role on the Dick Van Dyke Show and four Emmys for the Mary Tyler Moore Show.
Mary Tyler Moore was a trail blazer, a role model and she will be missed.
