Listen Up Golfers: Introducing SwingPass, a new golf company created right here in the neighborhood

Attention golfers of all kinds – the self proclaimed pros, the rookies, the ones forced to the course and the ones who just want to drive a golf cart – Get ready to putt your stuff with SwingPass.

Growing up, aside from the occasional round with his grandfather or the annual local charity event, Peter Marchetti spent his time on the basketball court, not the course.

As time went on, he realized that some of his favorite memories and times with his friends were spent at those big annual tournaments that brought them together year after year.

Without being a member at a golf club, I wish I could get that friendly competition on a regular basis…he thought.

The pandemic provided him with time to deep dive into his original concept, a ClassPass equivalent, but for golf. He would call it SwingPass and it would revolve around a monthly subscription system for discounted tee times at local courses, with events sprinkled in.

But with the resurgence of spending time outdoors, he found that clubs didn’t need help driving more golfers to book a round with them. And so, Marchetti decided to put all his golf balls in one basket and focus solely on the events and social side of SwingPass.

By day, he works in sustainability consulting for private golf clubs. By night, he serves at Lincoln Tavern & Restaurant. Somewhere in between, he taught himself everything he needed to know about running a company, and picked up a few business partners along the way.

Jen Tulloch was working with Marchetti at Lincoln when he bounced the idea of SwingPass off of her. As it turns out, she knew a thing or two about golf and had been looking for opportunities to help make the game more accessible for women. As for the last member of the trifecta, Danny Moloy works with Marchetti in the private golf club software and service business. He was enlisted to help with SwingPass and the three of them have been able to build something great for Boston golfers.

The way Marchetti sees it, “If you are a public golfer in the Boston area, we are your outlet for fun golf outings with some friendly competition.”

Their first event in the fall of 2022 was a huge success, garnering 60 participants and encouraging feedback. For Marchetti, it was one thing to envision an event like this and another to see it come to life.

“It’s crazy to think that we’ve now had almost two full seasons of events and nearly 1,000 different golfers attend them,” Marchetti said. “I think the coolest part for me has been meeting the wide array of people and getting to see their genuine excitement behind what we’re trying to build.”

As for what kind of events they host, there are co-ed social events, 18-hole classic tournaments geared toward the guys and lady links events to bring girl golfers together. You can check out upcoming events here and see what they’re like by following SwingPass on Instagram. All of the events have prizes and a charitable component as well.

But the key thing is that SwingPass is for all kinds of golfers; anyone and everyone is encouraged to sign up.

As per their website: “One of our priorities was making the events welcoming to any type of golfer: guys, girls, great golfers, newcomers that can barely get it off the tee, and especially that one friend who spends 90% of their day in the trees but brings unmatched energy.”

At the end of the day, they just want everyone to have a good time on the course with old friends or make some new ones and not take it too seriously. (That is, unless you get a hole-in-one. Then you have permission to take it very seriously.)

You don’t need to be a member to join in on all of the fun, but you can sign up for a SwingPass membership to enjoy discounted events and lessons, partner facility perks like free range balls or discounted gym memberships and more. This year’s membership now starts at only $50 and will get you perks until next golf season, including discounts on their winter leagues.

“Now is a good time to play in a SwingPass event because you don’t know what you’re missing out on. It’s a great way for public golfers to take their weekend golf up a notch” Marchetti said. “You could discover your new favorite course, your new favorite golf partner or maybe even your next significant other…you never know who you’ll meet at the first tee of our social events!”

After all that…how could you pass up a day on the course with SwingPass?
