We love a good book club, especially one that takes the conversation to the beach. Introducing Boston Book Lovers, a Southie-based club for anyone who loves to read!
Boston Book Lovers started last year when a few friends decided to take their small club to Instagram. Now, it has more than 150 followers! The group meets on the last Wednesday of every month. In the summer, you can spot Boston Book Lovers on M Street Beach with chairs, snacks, and decorations that are often themed around that month’s book.
Unlike many book clubs, this group actually stays focused on discussing the story, characters, and themes in detail rather than getting sidetracked by personal conversations. Meetings begin with a round of introductions, followed by a rapid-fire round of gut reactions to the book. The conversation is rarely dull, but if it ever is, a small bowl with pre-made questions is passed around to keep things lively.
At the end of each meeting, members can suggest books for the next month. Boston Book Lovers is an incredibly welcoming group full of intelligent, thought-provoking readers. Interested in joining? DM them on Instagram to learn more!
