I’ll Always Love my Mama: Showing love during a pandemic
Mother’s Day looked different this year. Instead of a family brunch, there were family zooms. Hugs were replaced by rolling celebrations. For Rosemarie (Hayes) Leonard’s family, they decided to dance and sing at Thomas Park for their mom. Rosemarie is a resident at the Marion Manor and her room faces Dorchester Heights so her family created signs and banners and played the legendary Southie anthem – “I’ll Always Love my Mama” by The Intruders and celebrated their mom. Needless to say, it brightened Rosemarie’s day.
“At every family party we put my mother Margaret, Auntie Rosie, Auntie Anna and Auntie Lulu in the middle of a circle and sing “I’ll Always Love My Mama,” said Rosemarie’s niece Mary.
Rosemarie was one of the organizers of the West Broadway Task Force and the mother of seven children – Theresa, Wendy, JR, Pamela, Kevin, Frankie and Nora.
