on West Broadway

No, it’s not a figment of your imagination, that really is a Hubway Station on West Broadway in front of the Sovereign Bank.  Not really sure what Hubway is?  Here’s the scoop:

Share a bike and go green
During this time of going green and being kind to the environment, New Balance brings you Hubway – a Boston bike sharing system.  With over stations and 100 bicycles, Hubway gives you an eco-friendly option for transit. Now with one right in the heart of Southie.

How does it work?
Rent a bike near your home or office and pedal to your way to your next destination. You can join Hubway and choose between options like an Annual, 3-day or 24 hour membership 3 months a year – the system shuts down in the winter months (no using Hubway bikes for parking space savers.) Rides less than 30 minutes are free.

Here’s something I’m wondering about.  With the advent of this and the coming of bike lanes;  will there be the same level of enforecment with bicyclists in comparion with people who will be tagged for double parking?  I really doubt it.

I’m surprised to see only one comment and saddened that it is so negative. This is all-around awesome! For the commuters, recreational bikers and the environment. I’ve been waiting for this to come to Southie! Thanks for sharing this great news.

Put it on the sidewalk? That’s where they ride the bikes, silly.
