The City of Boston officially honors April 15th as One Boston Day! This new tradition will remember the resiliency, generosity and strength of the City of Boston.  “April 15 is a date that has come to stand for our city’s deepest values, and we continue to be amazed by the spirit of the day, in the city, and around the world,” Mayor Marty Walsh said. How should you honor One Boston Day?  By helping those in need and committing random acts of kindness!  said Mayor Marty Walsh. How will you be honoring #OneBostonDay?

Here are how some local folks will be performing random acts of kindness and honoring One Boston Day:

In celebration of One Boston Day, teams of Gillette employees will honor the local heroes at the Boston Fire Department by delivering over 2000 Gillette Fusion ProShield Chill razors to local fire houses across the city on Friday – enough for every firefighter to receive one on Saturday, April 15th.  These men and women consistently put the safety of others first, demonstrating amazing acts of courage and kindness every day.    This small token represents our deep appreciation for their service and their dedication to protecting the people of this special city that we’ve called home for well over a century.

Make a wreath! The Thomas J. Fitzgerald Post #561 will be rebuilding ceremonial wreaths  on Saturday at 1pm at the post on East Fourth Street and then placing them at several Hero Squares in the neighborhood.  The purpose of this act is to ensure that proper respect is given to each veteran at that Hero Square.  If you would like to be a part of this, just stop by and show up! Coffee and pastry will be served!

South Boston Animal Hospital will be supporting Mass-Vest-A Dog again this year! After raising funds for the past two years and helping to secure MBTA police emergency care kits and one ballistic vest for their dog, Cooper, South Boston Animal Hospital hopes to raise even more money to support Massachusetts Police  dogs by helping provide bulletproof vests, essential equipment, training, and purchase of dogs for police / law enforcement K-9 programs throughout Massachusetts.
