A Southie good neighbor reminder: kindly stop your dog from peeing on people’s property.  It seems sort of foolish to be posting this but I’ve noticed that someone in my neighborhood is allowing their dog to pee on the flower pots on my stoop.  Come on!  As a dog owner, you have to know it’s not cool to let your dog pee on the following: someone’s house, flower pots, front stoop, bike, etc. etc. What happens is a chain reaction.  One dog pees, they all want to pee in that spot so just stop your dog from doing it.  Be respectful.

Our own Peter G. is so pissed (pun intended) about this situation – he bought chalk at Walgreen’s and wrote this note below:

Also, one more reminder.  Pick up the poop too and for the love of God, throw your poop bag in the trash.  Don’t leave it near a tree or on the corner.

That is all.

same for gardens–there seems to be some idea among dog owners that a planted garden is fair game to let one rip or splash–pee kills the plants and contrary to the doggie owner logic–I don’t want any extra fertilizer. The dog walking on the flowers and squashing them doesn’t seem to register with them either – they are a weird breed some of these dog owners.

Yes! The effort put into beautifying one little piece of sidewalk can be so quickly spoiled by a few dog(owner)s. Please help honor the hours of minding and watering these little patches by directing your dogs elsewhere. The gardeners, and the neighbors, thank you!

I agree, I’ve made comments to some to please be mindful and they either look at you like you are weird or they try to justify it.Just stop the behavior, that’s all!

Why in the world would you have a dog in an apt in south Boston or any other city neighborhood. They deserve to be able to run free and enjoy this world the way we do. No leash and not to be told sit down all of their lives. I know dog lovers all over the city will say who is this person to tell us not to own a dog in the city. Your dog doing its business all over the side walks and flowers of other people’s property is our business and you don’t respect that fact. Hope you enjoy your day doggie free do do

In case you haven’t noticed, Boston is a dog loving city. Dogs are everywhere. People aren’t going to give up their “fur kids” because they can’t “run free and enjoy the world the way we do”. Most dogs are perfectly happy with a trip to the dog park and a few potty-break walks a day.

Also, make sure the trash barrel you throw your dog’s poop in is your own! I witnessed a dog owner picking up her dog’s poop, looking both ways, and then depositing it in a neighbors barrel. She then disappeared around the corner. Sadly, I wasn’t close enough to call her on it.

Recently a dog owner was allowing their dog to relieve itself on our house, I asked them to please refrain from doing so in the future. Their response: “Get over it; it’s just pee”! I thought their comment was just as disgusting as the dog urinating on our house. In 10+ years I have never once allowed any of our dogs to use someone’s house as a peeing post and wish others would do the same.

Same goes for when we decorate with corn stalks at Halloween and evergreens at Christmas and people let their dogs pee on them too. So rude and I agree with throwing your dog crap in your own barrels. Someone repeatedly throws it in mine. Manners sneifjbors, manners!

I agree that Southie dog owners should be more considerate overall, but with that being said…when you’re front yard is a public sidewalk….expect the public bi-products to end up on your public “front yard”. I often read complaints on this site that are purely a function of living in a city. If you wan’t the convenience of living in a city, then you need to accept the inconveniences of living in a city.

Pee on pots, I would like my planter’s not to be stolen from the front of my house. In one month two large pots stolen on Jenkins St.
