Hello!  I’m Heather, and every month I’m going to share my picks for food, fashion, beauty, entertainment…basically I’m gonna tell ya’ll about what I’m excited about every month.  So, lets get to it.

The Perfect Summer Bag

My perfect summer bag must have enough room for my essentials (phone, wallet, iPad, masks, hand sanitizer, Clorox wipes), it’s got to be fun to look at, and decidedly say “summer”.  This lilac and orange bad boy from Habit fits the bill.  I once saw on the Today Show that orange is the most universally flattering coloring and I’ve been holding on to that for about a decade.

HBO

It’s not TV, it’s HBO.  HBO is coming in hot in June and thank God because I can only rewatch RHOBH so many times.  Personally I’m most looking forward to Perry Mason, June 21st starring everyone’s favorite country line dancing Russian spy, Matthew Rhys, and I’ll Be Gone In The Dark, based on Michelle McNamara’s book of the same name chronicling her hunt for the East Area Rapist/Golden State Killer and the unsolved case that terrified me the most.  Other notable HBO June premieres, I May Destroy You (June 7), Bully, Coward, Victim, The Story of Roy Cohn (June 19), Welcome to Chechnya (June 30).

Capo Sangria

Like I’m sure all of you, I miss going to so many of our amazing local restaurants.  Capo has helped soften the blow by giving us three options for sangria to go.  Their half gallon sangria jars include enough red, white or rose sangria for eight (I’ll be the judge of that), complete with a hard seltzer float.  If anyone from Capo is reading this, please keep the sangria jars on the takeout menu as long as long as legally allowed.

Marie Galvin Fine Millinery Headband and Mask Sets

It’s well-known I’m a long-time devotee of Marie Galvin Fine Millinery, over the years I’ve curated a lovely little collection of hats, headbands, hatinators, and fascinators.  Like many small businesses Marie’s business was completely upended this spring, but when Covid closes a Kentucky Derby door she opens a headband and mask set window.  Ok that was a total reach and made like no sense.  What I’m trying to say is, Marie Galvin is now making gorgeous matching mask and headband sets.  I’ve got an order in for a seersucker set but I’m also eyeballing her sailor print.  The all cotton masks have adjustable nose bridge, inside filter pockets, and are hand wash, hang dry.  The masks and headbands are available for curbside pickup daily from 12pm – 6pm at the South End shop, and domestic shipping, DM Marie on Instagram to purchase.  Available while supplies last so go get yours before I get them all.

Phase Two

As I’m writing this, Phase Two of opening up the Massachusetts economy could start as early as June eighth.  This phase includes the reopening of retail stores, restaurants, driving ranges, hotels, and casinos.  As someone who works for a retail company, I’m excited to get back to work, and I’m excited for all my hospitality industry friends.  And now I’m going to ask a favor of you.  If you do plan on visiting any Phase Two businesses, please follow their rules and be kind, we’re all doing our best and figuring things out as we go.  If you’re going to fight about wearing a mask, complain about wait time, or just be a jerk overall do us all a favor and stay home forever.
