Sees his shadow

Punxsutawney Phil did see his shadow today which means six more days of witner – GREAT!.  The chubby rodent emerged from his lair on Gobbler’s Knob, a little hill in the town of Punxsutawney, PA at dawn surrounded by the Inner Circle – a bunch of middle-aged men in top hats.  In the last ten years, Phil has seen his shadow 9 out of 10 times and according to the Punxsutawney Groundhog Club, since 1887 Phil’s record is 100 times seeing his shadow and only 16 times not seeing his shadow.  The rat-bastard!

Other groundhogs like Staten Island Chuck and Georgia’s Gen. Beauregard Lee, predict an early spring – now shadow for them!  Hmmm…..

What does this mean?

Nothing really but it’s a great excuse to watch the classic Bill Murray movie and drink some Punxsutawney Punch.

Cheers!

One last question, why doesn’t Southie have its own groundhog?

Maureen, it’s funny you would ask if we have our own groundhog.  I have one in my backyard.  He has done some damage back there.  I have some good sized holes that this critter has dug.

Boris is going to get a call.  This guy isn’t going to be around to predict much of anything for long.
