Get to Know Ziggy the Cat from City Point in Southie

We introduced you to the unofficial cat mayor of Southie, Oliver, last year after numerous reports of a “lost cat.”  Oliver is, in fact, an outdoor cat that loves to roam City Point.  Well, meet Ziggy – another lovable scamp that can be seen wandering the streets of City Point.

This adventurous black cat is 6 years old and lives on East Sixth.  He’s been known to fool neighbors into thinking he is a stray and entering homes for treats.  Ziggy can be seen frolicking in the grass at Marine Park along Farragut Road and on the beach.

His likes include chicken treats, pulling all-nighters on the streets of South Boston, wandering, and naps in the sun. Dislikes include dogs, fish, and when his owner gets mad at him for wanting to go out at 2am.

No word yet on whether Ziggy and Oliver are friends or have been seen strolling the streets together. Chances are, they are free and independent spirits that might hate the idea of a partner in crime.

Let us know if you’ve seen Ziggy on your travels.

Also, just an FYI – both of these cats wear trackers so that their owners can find them easily.

Ziggy was invited into our home by my husband during the height of the largest snow storm of the season this year. We thought he needed saving – but we were wrong. He was put in the bathroom as to not interact with our black cat, and Ziggy wanted out bad. When I opened the door to ease his apparent upset with the bathroom (he was beating down the door), he appeared to grown into a beast, twice the size of these photos and snarled at my cat and I. I was scared to death. Thank God his adorable owners came to get him soon after. Caution – he does not want saving, lol.
