Father’s Day Gift Guide

The countdown to Father’s Day is on!  Dad’s can be tough to shop for (why do they always say they don’t want anything for Father’s Day?) but lucky for us there are tons of Father’s Day gifts you can pick up right here in Southie!  We have some great local businesses in the hood, and no matter what kind of dad you have, you can find the perfect gift.  We pulled together a few ideas so you don’t even have to think, just go forth and shop!

The Grill Master Dad  Wears & Wares has a TON of gift options, but our favorite is this platter.  The added bonus, you know your dad will invite you over to eat whenever he uses it, win/win.

The Stay at Home Dad  I mean this in both the dad who doesn’t work to stay home and take care of the kids and the dad who would rather stay home on the couch and relax than hit the town.  This dad very much likes to be comfy, so a cozy hoody is the perfect gift.  And our pic for a cozy hoody?  Sullivan’s, yes the hot dog and cheeseburger Sullivan’s.  We literally do not know anyone in Southie who wouldn’t love a Sullivan’s hoody, and you can buy yourself fries while you’re there.

The Well-Groomed Dad  The well-groomed dad did not wake up like this, it takes work!  You can put together a day of very masculine pampering at The Beauty Bar with customized facials and waxing.  We promise it won’t be anything like The 40 Year Old Virgin.

The Fit Dad  Does the dad in your life start every day with a protein shake or quick 6 mile run?  We’re not suggesting you do anything crazy like go for that ridiculous run with him, but treating him to a workout is a great idea!  Whether it’s a cycling class at The Handle Bar, some Vinyasa at Radiant Yoga or East Side Yoga, or one of the over sixty group fitness classes at The Boston Athletic Club you can find the perfect class for a fit dad and even your lazy ass.

The Cool Dad  I’m saying this in a mocking, Amy Poehler in Mean Girls “cool mom” kind of way, I’m being earnest.  Anyhoo, go get the dad in your life a pair of Ray-Bans at Wink right on Broadway.  Can you even be cool without a pair of Ray-Bans?  I don’t think you can, and I say this as someone who isn’t cool, and doesn’t have a pair of Ray-Bans.

The Booze Aficionado Dad  If the dad in your life truly appreciates hooch he deserves a little better than a six pack of Bud.  Talk to the staff at Social Wines about what this dad likes to eat and drink and they can give you the perfect craft beer, wine, or hard booze to give him, and hopefully he’ll share with you.

Every Dad  I’m pretty sure the perfect day for every dad would include Coppersmith’s First Annual ‘Cue n’ Claw.  Live music, Southern BBQ (including smoked baby back ribs), traditional crab boil, Bulleit Bourbon cocktails, and kids eat free, it’s like brunch on steroids.

I tried out the Harry’s razors after being a loyal Gillette man forever. Get your father the Harry’s razor. Equal or better shave and the blades are about half the cost of Gillettes. Just my opinion.
