East Side Yoga + Fitness: Celebrating 10 years in the Neighborhood

For the past ten years, East Side Yoga & Fitness has proven to be one of Southie’s favorite fitness studios. It offers classes from Yoga Sculpt to Heated Vinyasa Flow, as well as popular workshops, events, and personal training.

“Do what you love.  Love what you do.”

As the owner of East Side, Andrea Corazzini has had the opportunity to live up to this quote. Her passion for fitness and wellness came true when she opened East Side Yoga and Fitness in 2014.  Ten years later, East Side is thriving.  Here are 5 Questions with Andrea about her journey and what’s next.

How long have you been in the fitness industry?

I hate to date myself, but I have been in the fitness industry for 40 years! With age comes wisdom! I started back in the day when there was step aerobics. I became a personal trainer, spin instructor, pilates instructor, strength training instructor, and yoga instructor. I also helped open my husband Tom Regan’s gym, Regan’s Motivated Fitness, 18 years ago and, after a while, realized I wanted my own space on the East Side of South Boston.

I created a space for physical and mental well-being. With the help of a supportive, empowering community of instructors, East Side offers our students the opportunity to reach their full potential through a variety of classes: yoga, Restorative Yoga, Yoga Sculpt, and strength-based classes. Private training is available in person or remotely, and private functions are available as well.

Over the past ten years, how has your business evolved?

Our business has evolved and changed over the years, mainly from the effect of the pandemic. We were able to continue to offer live stream classes through COVID-19. The fitness industry was shut down in Boston for two years, and we realized how important it was for all of us to have a safe space to continue practicing for our mental and physical well-being. We were happy the local community and those throughout the country joined us! I still train many clients by Zoom who live all over the United States. I have a client in her 80s who lives in Nevada and navigates Zoom with no problem!

What’s the most surprising thing you’ve learned from owning a small business?

Not surprising, but grateful. Many of our regular students relocated during COVID-19, and reopening was an opportunity to connect with the new generation that moved into the neighborhood. There was uncertainty for all about what this new landscape would look like, but with time, we were able to nurture the community once again. Connection to others is our priority.

What is your most popular class at East Side?

Our most popular classes are Heated Power Flow and Heated Yoga Sculpt. All are welcome!

Any new workshops or events you have planned in 2025?

My husband Tom will be offering a Mental Health Training Workshop.  It utilizes a physical approach to focus on tools, structures, and traits that improve mental health. Also, Erin Holland, who created The Family Yoga Project will offer a Kids’ Yoga and Mindfulness Program ( ages 4-6) from January to March.
