When we saw the post of the deer running around the North End on Friday morning, it made us reminisce about that time in 2015 when a deer was wandering the streets of Southie for several days!

Original Post from June of 2015:

The deer that was roaming the streets of South Boston was finally caught on Tuesday afternoon.  Normally not a big deal for most neighborhoods to spot a deer, but for Southie it became a social media buzz with people posting sightings, videos and witty commentary about the displaced deer.   Southie Deer even became a twitter handle and tweeted throughout the day Monday even announcing, “Just moved in. Looking for parking.”

On Tuesday, the excitement came to an end when one neighbor spied the 80-pound doe on East Fifth Street and alerted environmental police.  The deer was contained, tranquilized and moved to a safer location in Blue Hills.

As to how the deer wound up in Southie is purely speculation but deers have been known to swim from Thomson Island in the past.  We had no i-deer!
