Caught in Southie: Sister Evelyn Hurley
On Wednesday, Sr. Evelyn Hurley, age 103 and former first grade teacher at St. Brigid School in Southie, delivered an inspiring invocational prayer at the Boston City Council meeting. She felt right at home given her father served on the City Council and was Council President from 1949-1955. She was joined by her former students, City Councilor at-Large Michael Flaherty, Kelly Donovan and Paul McCormack.
(Editor’s Note: I had Sr. Evelyn in First Grade and Michael Flaherty was my classmate.)
