2013 USA Judo Scholastic National Championships
Boston Judo Club’s Maria Dhami 17, won USA Judo’s 2013 National Scholastic
Judo Championship Tournament in Miami, Florida, on March 23 and 24, 2013, in the -52 kilogram category! By winning this tournament, Maria earned a place on USA Judo’s Junior World Team that will compete in the Junior World
Championships inLjubljana, Slovenia, on Oct. 24 – 27, 2013.
In addition, USA Judo awarded Maria the outstanding competitor award for
defeating all of her highly skilled and experienced opponents with decisive
ippons (knockouts). Maria won this same national championship in 2012, and
was awarded the fighting spirit award.
Ms. Dhami trains at the Boston Judo Club at the UltimateSelf-Defense and
Performance Center in South Boston, and is a senior at BostonLatin Academy.
