Southie’s Own Sullivan’s Castle Island Wins Prestigious James Beard Award

Big news for Southie! Sullivan’s Castle Island has officially received an America’s Classics Award from the James Beard Foundation—one of the highest honors in the food world. This award is given to locally owned spots with “timeless appeal” that serve up quality food and hold a special place in their community. And let’s be real—Sully’s is exactly that.
For generations, Sully’s has been a Southie staple, serving up legendary hot dogs, crispy crinkle-cut fries, and some of the best seaside eats around.
The James Beard team called it a “Boston institution,” recognizing its deep roots and unwavering commitment to the community. From supporting local sports teams and fundraisers to being the go-to spot for a post-beach feast, Sully’s is more than just a takeout stand—it’s a piece of Southie history.
Only six spots in the country won this coveted award, which you can read about here.
This award is timely since Sully’s reopens for a new season on Saturday!
