Pastoral – a new artisan pizza kitchen and bar is slated to open later this month in Fort Point at 345 Congress Street.  The new wood fire pizzeria will hold  just about 150 seats and include a full bar with 20 beers on tap.  In the warmer weather, garage doors and large windows will open up to the street. This restaurant will be family friendly and feature lunch and dinner.  Take-out and eventually delivery will be available.  Chef/owner Todd Winer has received certification from the Associazione Verace Pizza Napoletana as an official Pizzaiolo – so you know it’s gonna be delicious.   Stay tuned for opening details.

M C Spiedo Ristorante & Bar is open for business, Southie! The 80-seat room, located inside the Renaissance Boston Waterfront Hotel, was designed with 15th century Italy in mind and features an antipasti bar made with Vermont-sourced white carrera marble where diners can watch chefs preps meals. The James Beard Award winning team of Mark Gaier and Clark Frasier have a created a menu featuring homemade pastas, pizzas and roasted meats.  For cocktails enjoy, the Inizio Bellini made with locally produced Fabrizia Blood Orangecello and Moscato d’Asti; and the 14th Century Manhattan with Angel’s Envy bourbon, Lazzaroni Amaretto and house-made cherry husk bitters. Coppersmith hopes to open its doors in Southie this spring.  Coppersmith – a new restaurant and bar, would love to open across the street from the new development at 40 West Third Street (between A and B streets).  John Childs and his business partner Jerry Curtains are in the process of getting the development ball rolling.  The restaurant will seat 250 and an additional outdoor patio space plus 20 customer parking spots.  The menu will feature American comfort food.  Keep your fingers crossed.

Row 34 has opened its doors in Fort Point to rave reviews.  This comfortable neighborhood-focused spot that features seafood and an oyster bar They are open 7 days a week for lunch, brunch and dinner.  Row 34 is located at 383 Congress Street.

Sauce located at the corner of L and East Fourth Street is still empty and still on the market.

Two more potential restaurants are on the future horizon.  One at the corner of D and West Broadway – we’re hearing Southie celebrity chef Barbara Lynch may be interested in that spot (fingers crossed).  Everyone in Southie is waiting with bated breath to find out the restaurant that will live at the corner of L and East Broadway. 

Happy One Year Birthday, Foodie’s.  Foodie’s – Southie’s favorite supermarket – is celebrating one year of business in South Boston.  A celebration is planned for February 24th from 4pm-7pm with homemade cake, free hot dogs, food samples and giveaways.
