New to the Neighborhood: Levain Bakery – Opening on Friday, November 22nd

Levain Bakery invites neighbors to enjoy Cookies and pastries with Proceeds from Opening Day benefiting the South Boston Neighborhood House.
BOSTON, MA (November 13, 2024) – Levain Bakery – renowned for its big, beloved cookies, is celebrating the opening of its newest Boston location – a retail bakery and production space in Boston’s Seaport neighborhood at 107 Seaport Blvd on Friday November 22. The upcoming Seaport opening marks Levain’s second retail bakery in Boston, after opening on Newbury Street in Back Bay in 2022.
The grand opening on Friday November 22 begins at 8:00 a.m. with a ribbon cutting, custom Seaport totes filled with bakery swag for the first 100 guests, and celebrations throughout the day. Levain Seaport’s opening day proceeds will be donated to the South Boston Neighborhood House, one of Boston’s original historical settlement houses, whose mission is to support family and neighborhood life in South Boston. Levain Bakery has donated opening day proceeds as an ongoing commitment to giving back to local communities and to be a force for good in each neighborhood they join.
Levain was founded in 1995 as a tiny bread bakery on the Upper West Side of Manhattan by Pam Weekes and Connie McDonald. The two best friends started baking six-ounce cookies with simple, high-quality ingredients as the ultimate post-race treat after training for triathlons and keeping a robust fitness regimen. After finalizing the recipe for their original Chocolate Chip Walnut cookie, they quietly offered the cookies for sale, and they flew off the shelf. Nearly 30 years later, Levain has built a passionate fan base and avid following for its handmade decadent treats.
The Seaport bakery will feature an exclusive preview of its seasonal Dark Chocolate Peppermint cookie, with rich chocolate dough and soft peppermint chips. Levain Bakery Seaport will also offer the beloved cookies in the bakery’s six classic flavors: Chocolate Chip Walnut (also available as gluten-free/vegan), Dark Chocolate Chocolate Chip, Oatmeal Raisin, Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter Chip, Two Chip Chocolate Chip, and Caramel Coconut Chocolate Chip. The Seaport bakery also offers freshly baked assortment of breads, loaf cakes, pastries, brioche, and weekend-only sticky buns – all baked in-house daily.
The bakery’s look and feel, helmed by Sarah Carpenter, includes a mural designed and hand-painted by Julia Emiliani, a Boston-based illustrator and designer. This custom mural, inspired by the Seaport Boulevard’s innovative public art, features a collection of 14 playful painted ‘posters’ that celebrate the Seaport neighborhood and its rich history, filled with hidden fun cookie moments.
The bakery space will feature Levain’s signature blue and white motif throughout, an open kitchen providing its guests with a peek into the prepping and baking process, ordering counter, display case, and a cozy area with a standing counter for guests to enjoy their baked goods.
The Seaport opening marks the 16th location for Levain, with bakeries across New York, Los Angeles, Washington D.C., Chicago, Bethesda, Boston and most recently Philadelphia. Levain Seaport will offer local delivery and pickup via DoorDash, Grubhub, and Uber Eats as well as catering, featuring delicious cookie assortments, signature breads paired with spreads, morning goodies, and more.
Levain will be open seven days a week at 107 Seaport Blvd from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. For more information and updates, please visit www.levainbakery.com or follow @levainbakery on Instagram.
