New to the Neighborhood: Acclaimed Korean-American Gastropub Nowon

Boston, MA – April 14, 2025 – Nowon, the acclaimed Korean-American gastropub founded by Chef Jae Lee, is set to open in Boston’s Seaport on April 15. Celebrated for its bold Korean flavors and lively atmosphere, Nowon expands its footprint to Seaport in collaboration with Boston-based Flying Lion Hospitality, led by Babu Koganti, the team behind Madras Dosa in Seaport and other notable dining concepts.. Together, they bring a fresh and dynamic addition to the neighborhood’s growing culinary scene.

Since its debut in New York City’s East Village in 2019, Nowon has earned widespread recognition for its innovative approach to Korean-American comfort food, highlighted by dishes like the Legendary Cheeseburger, a double smashburger made with kimchi-special sauce, ‘Chopped Cheese’ Rice Cakes, a playful reinterpretation of New York’s iconic bodega Chopped Cheese sandwich, and Jae’s Chicken Bun, a fresh and delicious take on a Korean Fried Chicken Sandwich. Nowon’s Seaport signature dishes are prepared on traditional wok burners, creating flavors that are bold and unforgettable.

The beverage program at Nowon complements its culinary offerings with a selection of innovative cocktails. Highlights include the Lychee Keen, crafted with rosemary vodka, tarragon, and elderflower; Yin Yang, featuring miso tequila, grapefruit, and falernum; and Open Sesame, a bold mix of espresso vodka and crème de cacao. For those seeking non-alcoholic options, Nowon offers zero-proof cocktails like the Orange Theory, made with honey, chili oil, turmeric, and citrus, providing a sophisticated alternative to traditional soft drinks.

“We’re excited to bring Nowon to Boston Seaport,” said Chef Jae Lee. “This vibrant neighborhood offers a unique opportunity to connect with a new community. We look forward to providing a welcoming space where people can share flavorful dishes and enjoy a great time together.”

Nowon Seaport will open with dinner service for the first two weeks, followed by the launch of lunch service. Late-night and brunch offerings will debut this summer. Guests can expect a lively ambiance, with nostalgic 90s and early 2000s hip-hop and R&B music videos adding energy and character to the space. Additionally, the restaurant will offer options for private parties and full buyouts, making it an ideal spot for everything from intimate celebrations to large-scale events.

“A restaurant like Nowon exemplifies what makes Boston Seaport such an exciting place to be,” said Ariel Foxman, Vice President of Brand and Experience for Boston Seaport. “Its distinct culinary perspective and engaging atmosphere will offer something fresh and memorable for everyone who visits.”

NOWON is located at 119 Seaport Blvd in Boston Seaport. For more information and updates, please visit www.nowonusa.com and @nowon.usa on Instagram.

Well, the City of Boston begs to differ. The Seaport is part of South Boston. We use the same parking permits – both say SOUTH BOSTON. Do you live in the neighborhood? You have a great day too!
