Boston-native Gavin Moseley and The Garret Group Bring Unique Design and a Superior Menu to The Superette with Borrachito Taqueria & Spirits.

Boston, MA (April 6, 2023) — The Garret Group, hitmakers behind the likes of Bandits Diner & Dive, The Garret, Borrachito Taqueria & Spirits, and forthcoming Rocco’s Sports & Recreation in New York City, are bringing their unique design and high-energy vibes to Boston. The highly anticipated second location of Borrachito Taqueria & Spirits will give Bostonians both a rare opportunity to experience a playful take on a Mexico City-style Taqueria and a unique speakeasy concept that delivers a superior cocktail program.

The Taqueria & Food Program

The taqueria is led by Chef Yuval Ochoa, born and raised in Guadalajara, Mexico. Borrachito takes a playful and creative outlook on the average taco seeking to combine Ochoa’s authentic Mexican cooking principles with chef-driven, unexpected twists. There are classic renditions like the Al Pastor, shaved directly to order off of the spinning trompo located in the center of the kitchen, to more adventurous explorations like the Crackling Pork Belly featuring a truffled Valentina salsa, or the Nashville Hot Cauliflower with a cilantro ranch and roasted shishito peppers. Different from a traditional taqueria where guests often add salsas, cilantro, onions to their tacos themselves – all menu items at Borrachito are fully developed recipes inclusive of all sauces and flavors, which drives the overall property slogan, Siempre Con Todo, “Always with Everything”. As with their NYC location, Ochoa is nixtamilizing his own masa to create fully housemade tortillas daily. Other options outside of tacos include a Grilled Elote Caesar Salad and Taki-Crusted Flautas, which mirror a Doritos spice. The taqueria will be open daily from 11AM to late night serving Boston Seaport and surrounding areas via in-person dining, a take-out window, and delivery.

The Bar & Cocktail Program

Through a discreet entrance in the Taqueria which looks like a working kitchen Walk-in door, guests will find The Bar Room featuring a world-class bar program, led by Director of Food & Beverage, Max Stampa-Brown. The drinks program will be elevated similar to other Garret Groups creative concepts. The Horchata Espresso Martini is tapped on a draft line in the property and features vodka, five spice rice milk, creme de cacao, cold brew, and coconut milk. The Dunes of Monico is a layered cocktail with Oaxacan rum, orange, goji berry grenadine, almond, cilantro chartreuse, and lime in a zombie glass. In addition to the elevated cocktails other beverage options include 16 draught beers, multiple renditions of Margaritas, and beer and shot combos. The bar will be open from 4PM to 2AM daily, with the addition of brunch service on the weekends beginning at 11AM.

The design of the property was led by Adam Fulton, Creative Director and Co-Founder of The Garret Group in their ongoing collaboration with Angus McIntosh of Yakka Studios. The overall property is inspired by 1950 style roadside eateries and the fusion of old school Route 66 Americana meets a trip south of the border. The Taqueria brings those ideas to life in a classic fashion with blue and white subway tile and diner-style banquettes and stools, while The Bar Room is filled with 1950s era industrial light fixtures, wood paneling, and tile work. Artwork adorns all visible walls and moments, including sourced collections of Vintage Mexican movie posters, framed beer coasters, vintage highway maps, and more. “We’re really proud of Borrachito Taqueria & Spirits. It’s not just a dining or bar concept, we’ve created a place where people in Boston can celebrate their best moments. Every design element has a purpose, every decision we’ve made has had this specific market in mind. We’re really looking forward to being a part of such a great city,” says Adam Fulton, Co-Founder & Creative Director at The Garret Group.

Gavin Moseley, Co-Founder of The Garret Group and a Boston native who grew up in the Jamaica Plain area adds, “It feels so good to be coming home. It has been my dream all along to bring the creative energy of our bar and restaurant concepts to my hometown and I couldn’t be more thrilled to see the vision we’ve been working on finally come to life in the Seaport. For us, it’s bringing the people of Boston something they haven’t experienced yet but doing it in a way that feels right for the city. It’s truly a full-circle moment for me.”

“We are so excited to welcome Borrachito Taqueria & Spirits, the first outside of NYC, to the Superette. With its fresh and innovative Mexican-inspired menu, expertly crafted cocktails, and lively atmosphere, we know Borrachito is going to be a new favorite destination for locals and visitors alike” shared Ariel Foxman, General Manager, Seaport at WS Development.

The grand opening of Borrachito Taqueria & Spirits will take place on April 17, 2023 and is located at The Superette, 70 Pier 4 Boulevard, Boston, MA 02210 (entrance is on B Street between Seaport Boulevard and Congress Street).
