New Additions: Two Southie restaurants are added to Eater Boston’s Best Restaurant List

In an effort to answer that age-old question, which restaurant do you recommend? Eater Boston has created a curated list of their favorite spots in the Boston area. Some South Boston restaurants have been included in this roundup, including these new additions just added this week.
Here are the South Boston spots via Eater Boston:
Woods Hill Pier 4
Open for: Dinner and weekend brunch
Price range: $$$
Since opening in 2019, this Seaport restaurant has been a shining example of true farm-to-table ethos in Boston, with much of what’s on the menu coming from owner Kristin Canty’s farm or sourced locally. Woods Hill doesn’t shy from luxury though, with dishes like local swordfish with brown butter and crispy Brussels, fluke crudo with ginger coconut milk, and aged duck breast with Concord grape vin cotto, a sweet condiment made from the juice and skin of grapes.
Know before you go: One of the best dishes on the menu, the lobster popover, is only available at brunch. Ideally, you’ll eat the creme fraiche tossed lobster piled high on a popover at one of the tables outside, overlooking the harbor, on a sunny Sunday.
Bar Volpe
Open for: Dinner
Price range: $$$
Top Chef winner and James Beard Best Chef Northeast 2018, Karen Akunowicz is the force behind this popular Boston restaurant (along with Fox & the Knife), which focuses on fresh pasta and wood fired Southern Italian cuisine. Equal parts neighborhood favorite and fine dining experience, the pastas – like the spaghetti al limone with Jonah crab or squid ink casarecce with lobster and chile – are the star of the show here.
Insider tip: The team has curated a lengthy amari list, which should be enjoyed with the tiramisu, or as an Adult Affogato Float (amaro, espresso, soft serve ice cream).
Also included on this list in the neighborhood: Gray’s Hall and Yume Ga Arukara in Seaport.
