But good news, it looks like it’s going to remain a pub!

Back in September, a hearing was held before the City of Boston Licensing Board to transfer the 7 day Common Victualler/All Beverage License to a new owner.

Word on the street, the new owner is doing some renovations to the legendary old school Southie pub located at the corner of H and 8th including painting the exterior. No word yet, if and when it will reopen to the public. But we’re looking into it!

A few years back, the Shamrock was put on the market including not only the pub but the building too. It was listed here for $2,325,000:

The Shamrock Pub and Grill, A true landmark in Boston, with a great location only steps to the beach. This gem of a neighborhood pub boasts a big bar and comfortable dining room — patrons just love it. The fully equipped kitchen drives a great menu that can be further enhanced with your ideas. The sale includes all licenses, including a full liquor license, all equipment and furnishings. There are 4 residential units that were totally renovated in 2007. Building can be sold empty, so an easy condo conversion for an investor looking for a unique project. There is room for expansion to add more living space, to the second and third floors over the existing addition along with a full walkout basement for expansion of the restaurant. Great water view.

Special thank you to Boston Restaurant Talk who initially tipped us off to the license transfer and always has the latest and greatest on local restaurant scoop!
