And they’re off!  It’s the 143rd running of the Kentucky Derby at Churchill Downs.  20 horses will compete on one lucky winner will receive a $2 million purse!  We say bet on Always Dreaming – he’s one of the favorites to win! The most exciting two minutes in sports begins at 6:34pm!

Lincoln – 425 West Broadway
Get your hats ready!  Lincoln Tavern & Restaurant is shaking things up with race day drink specials from Bar Manager Rob McCaffrey in honor of the all-American sporting event. Guests are invited to sip on classic Mint Julep and Pimm’s Cup specials as they watch the excitement of the races on Lincoln’s three projection TVs in the expansive dining room. This is a can’t-miss party in Southie’s favorite gathering spot, so make sure to get there early!

Barlow’s – 241 A Street
Derby for a cause!  Barlow’s is hosting a fun-filled event to benefit the South Boston Collaborative on Saturday, May 6th from 4pm-7pm.  Wear your best Derby inspired outfit and hat of course, and you just might win a prize!  There will be food, fun, and raffles.  Tickets are $20.

Publico- 11 Dorchester Street
Publico will host their first annual “Run to The Rosé” Derby party in the restaurants garden.  Two giant project screens will show the derby on the interior walls within the atrium for guests to enjoy while sipping signature Publico Mint Julep cocktails ($12,) and eating Chef Langlois’ Cucumber Sandwiches ($8.00,) and derby dogs ($8.00) topped with house-made bourbon mustard. Surrounded on four sides by the 11 on the Dot residential building, Publico’s garden is an urban oasis with open air views overhead.  The space features an outdoor bar, ivy-covered trellis and covered lounge areas that boast fire pits and built-in flat-screen TVs.

Amrheins – 80 West Broadway 
Amrheins is celebrating its 2nd Annual Kentucky Derby Social. Last year’s event for Mark Delaware was such a huge success that owner Steve Mulrey has decided to keep the tradition alive. This year’s Derby Social will benefit Mass Fallen Heroes exclusive programs & services.  Tickets at $50 and include a pre paid race card and traditional derby cuisine.   Get your Derby Fashion ready and purchase your tickets here. The Best Dressed in Derby Fashion, will win a PRIZE.  The fun starts at 5pm!

 

Coppersmith – 40 West Third Street
Derby Day will arrive at Coppersmith with all the pomp and circumstance. Guests can watch the world’s top thoroughbreds take to the track on two 12’ projection screens indoors or on flat screen TV’s located on the rooftop Air Deck. From the bar, the beverage team will shake up traditional Mint Juleps for $12.00 and chef Jason Heard will be serving up some BBQ favorites like ribs and wings directly out front of the restaurant from his brand new 9 ft Lang Smoker. Traditional derby attire is encouraged!

Drink –  348 Congress Street
It’s that time of year again for horses, hats, roses, and juleps. That’s right, Derby Day is right around the corner and the only place that you’re going to want to be is at Drink for our 8th annual Kentucky Derby party! $150 includes 3 cocktails, Derby-themed bites, a live broadcast of the race, an official 143rd Kentucky Derby commemorative julep cup, a champagne reception and hat shop from our friends at Goorin Bros. before the party.  For more information visit here!
