Plus – save the date – Kickoff Event – November 3rd from 7pm-10pm at Castle Island Brewing South Boston Taproom

[Jamaica Plain, MATuesday, October 18, 2022]  J.P. Licks, Boston’s favorite ice cream shop, and Castle Island Brewing Co. (CIBC), the award-winning and accessible brewery in Norwood and South Boston, recently announced a sweet and hoppy partnership which has resulted in a new beer, Crooked Cow Prints, and ice cream flavor, Salted Caramel Infused Coffee. Salted Caramel Infused Coffee will be available at all 17 J.P. Licks store locations on Friday, October 28. Crooked Cow Prints will be available at both CIBC taprooms and liquor stores across Massachusetts and Rhode Island throughout November and December.

Castle Island Brewing & J.P. Licks will kick off the partnership with an Ice Cream Social Thursday, November 3 from 7-10 pm ET in CIBC’s South Boston Taproom at 10 Old Colony Ave, South Boston. J.P. Licks and CIBC invite the public to come check out the new flavors, the event will also feature “Crooked Floats” – Crooked Cow Prints Ice Cream Floats.

Crooked Cow Prints is a mouthful of a beer in style and taste, a Salted Caramel Coffee Blonde Stout. During the year-long innovation development process, the CIBC team was enamored with not only the ice cream that J.P Lick’s has made over decades, but their talent as local micro coffee roasters. Both teams discovered that instead of settling for a sweet pastry stout, they wanted to highlight the best of J.P Lick’s popular ice cream flavor “Salted Caramel” and the crafted coffee program they’ve mastered. Thus, a Salted Caramel Coffee Blonde Stout emerged, which keeps the beer at a lighter shade than most stouts, it’s almost deceiving whether it fits into that style or not.

J.P. Licks is unveiling a new ice cream flavor on October 28, Salted Caramel Infused Coffee

the flavor takes J.P. Licks infused coffee ice cream, which is made by steeping their fresh roasted coffee beans for up to four hours into ice cream mix, and then adding to that a sweet blend of caramel and a kick of salt.

“Crooked Cow Prints is packed with several ingredients that create the caramel flavor that hits the pallet on the first sip,” says Emily Whitney, Senior Brand Manager at Castle Island. “A touch of lactose provides sweetness, and a pinch of salt creates this beautiful juxtaposition we all love with a salty and sweet treat. The star of the show is with the Peruvian whole coffee beans that you can sense so strongly in aroma and while tasting the beer. Upon pouring, the appearance is a slightly hazy dark gold to amber, with a thick white head of foam. Aroma is of lightly roasted coffee, white cake batter, and faint notes of pear.  On the palate there is vanilla, coffee, and brown sugar/toffee; it finishes sweet and creamy and is complemented by a faint warmth from the alcohol.”

“This collaboration is very exciting for us,” says J.P. Licks founder and owner Vincent Petryk. “It has been nearly a year in the making and we have always admired the local flavors and work at Castle Island Brewing Company. Combining our sweets and coffee roasting with the talents of their master brewers was a magical process.”
